I don't think it will ever go away snorkel, I feel exactly the same every time I watch that last point, just awesome!
3 months on and I'm still emotiional especially at the last set. In the first few games I behave as if I didn't know the result and keep encouraging Andy with a "C'mon son let's get to 30 love or whatever" When Novak has called the trainer and Andy comes on to the court and starts to knock the ball against the backboard I know
we're home and dry and I start to cry. When will that stop?

I agree I watch the last set of the US Open and when Andy broke his serve I thought AT LAST he's done it and I felt all different emotions going through me. Joy anguish and even disappointment for all the hurt he must have felt losing in previous Grand Slam finals. But he did it and that is what matters, I look forward to 2013 and a new tennis year and for Andy to win more Grand Slams.

I agree - I don't think watching that last set will ever fail to be really special. I've never felt as emotional watching a tennis match as I did then - knowing that Andy was about to make history and more importantly, that he was about to achieve what he'd wanted for so long. When Andy broke serve in the last set, I just wanted the match to be over right then - I was a nervous wreck in all his service games up until he got to 5-2. Then it was obvious that he was going to do it.

I don't think any of us will ever quite get over watching that amazing night in New York. Whatever happens next, if Andy goes on to win many more majors, September 10th 2012 will always be the first one, I think it will always be special.
It's funny, I watched that fifth set again (no idea how many times I've watched it now, probably dozens lol) just now, and it strikes me how big that 3rd game was. If you recall, and I know you all do, Andy broke Djokovic at the beginning of the fifth and then held. He then battled with Djokovic to break again in that third game. Then Djokovic broke straight back and held his own service game. However, had Djokovic held the third game and then broken Andy's serve before holding again, he would have been 3-2 ahead, rather than 3-2 down. It makes you wonder what might have happened in that scenario. Would Djokovic have been revitalised, would Andy have continued to hold his nerve? We'll never know, thank goodness! As it was, Andy served brilliantly to go 4-2 up and for me, at that point, the match was effectively over. I knew Andy had got it. At 5-2 up I was bawling like a baby and the rest is history.
Mind you, the one other thing I would say about the match is that you know you have watched it too often when you know exactly what the comms are going to say next lol.

After Andy broke Nole in the first game of the 5th set, I stood up. I just couldn’t sit anymore. I was too agitated and from that point on watched the whole set standing up. I was speechless after he won the final game but now I was on my knees. I couldn’t scream or cry or feel any emotion. It was total numbness. You prepare for this moment for so long that when it finally happens, a very strange feeling takes you over. How can the nightmare be over when you had gone through so much? It’s hard to believe even when you know that it’s over and Andy is finally victorious. Over the years, Andy has become part of my soul because of his constant struggle basically with everything, so this meant a lot. It took me a while to get used to the idea that Andy had finally won a Slam.
Somehow I always knew his first Major win will be against Nole. In fact, I thought it was going to happen last year at the AO and when it didn’t happen, I was very disappointed even much more so the other two losses. I thought Nole would make things easier (how, I didn’t know) for Andy but who knew, really. In fact, he went on to dominate the year in such a way that I don’t think anyone saw that coming. Andy had a great year in 2011 and was very proud of him, but that elusive slam had yet to happen, so it was disappointing in that sense. Now I feel so relaxed. 2012 was a remarkable year for me (in all aspects in fact) and I bet it was for many.
Wonder what 2013 will bring. Haven't got a clue.

It was special indeed.
"Wonder what 2013 will bring. Haven't got a clue." - Same here! Not sure what to expect?? Rafa is perhaps the biggest question mark.

Loved the fan's video of the final point. The emotion wells up again every time. I also find that sometimes from nowhere I get a picture in my mind of Andy crouching down head in hands trying to let it sink in after that final point. Also of him marching on for the medals ceremony at the Olympics. These images burn bright as highlights of 2012 for me and I don't think I'll ever forget the joy I felt on both occasions.

I remember bouncing around in my room here in St. Andrews like a crazy person, trying not to wake up the other residents in the postgrad hall where I stay....I think I cried all the way through the final few games, and I especially remember the chase review on that ace for 30-0 in the final game, then I just knew he had it. Watching legless Nole trying his best but having nothing left was just wondrous to behold, a beautiful twist of fate as we have seen Andy on the receiving end before, and he then was in Shanghai. I watched the CBS coverage on youtube recently (the full match and ceremony is there) and they were getting just as pumped for Andy as Petchey was. Although I thought Petch was much more excited in 2008 especially in the Nadal match.
Always cheers me up watching the last set especially. It was an amazing match, the Andy of old would never have won those first two sets in the past. Andy will never dominate tennis like Fed and Nadal have done, but he will win more slams, and I can't wait...hopefully beginning in Australia.
You could just tell he was in so much pain during the ceremony though, that every time he moved he winced, he had given everything possible. They both had, and I think that is the beauty of these modern rivalries, that it has almost become such a complete all-encompassing physical contest, a marathon slugfest gladiatorial proportions.
An evening I will never forget for sure, it was well worth the 6 hours or so. I also vividly remember that during his post-match SKY interview, SKY GO went offline, I was so glad it hadn't happened just an hour earlier.

Before the USO I feared the possibility of an permanent injury whereby Andy had to stop playing tennis. After the US open I was so relieved he had won his GS.
Before this win I always had to explain - and I did this with pleasure- (to friends, tennistrainer en hubbie...) why being an Andy fan (that red hairy grumbling scot with scolding mother) and not fan of Fed, Nole or Nadal, (or Ferrer, Tsonga etc) I always explained that Andy has a lot of qualities, (exciting play, never giving up, great bh, humor etc, you all know this...) and that the question was not if but when about winning his first GS. I know there are so many more people, I have read the threads from the start of Murrays World, and admire the people who did still believe in all those years and enjoy....
