I watched the whole match again over the weekend, and does it make me sound like a total nutcase when I say that I've watched the fifth set again three times since? I just love it, Djokovic having the momentum like that after his comeback, and then Andy ripping the thing out of his hands and refusing to let go. It really was like Andy was saying to Djokovic, 'I'm not going away, I'm not giving up, so you can go away', or words to that effect lol.

I don't think I've ever heard a crowd get behind a player who wasn't one of their own like that before. I know they were a bit fickle, appearing to be behind Andy pretty well at first (apart from a few who seemed intent on trying to distract him when he was serving early on) and then backing Djokovic until he made a match out of it, but honestly, when it came to it they were right behind Andy. It was stunning.

I still love watching Andy resisting everything Djokovic threw at him in the second game of the fifth, and the way Andy served to go 4-2 up was amazing.

The remarkable thing to me was that during the fifth set the calmest person in the place seemed to be Andy. I don't think I've ever seen him look more composed on the court, except perhaps in the Olympic final. It was sort of like he'd confronted all the demons, all the past major final losses and really decided he was having this one. When you look at how he was on the court in the fifth I don't think it is surprising to think that he'd given himself a talking to during the bathroom break.

I'll never, ever tire of watching this one. It was glorious, and God willing there will be a few more to come, but this one will always be the first major and will always be special.

Andy was also very, very composed in the 5th set of AO semi against Federer - though it should have never gone that far in the first place, but still, it was nice to see Andy keeping it together when it mattered the most. This is a significant improvement I am seeing in Andy. I saw it a bit in the Ferrer match as well. Despite getting broken so many times in the final set - even getting a match point, Andy somehow managed to keep his cool until the end. Until he won. This gives us confidence as well because I am sure we'll see more situations likes these in the future as well, and if Andy is really into the match, then we'd know what to expect before we panic too much - though that's still not a guarantee with some fans.
