Aix Challenger F: Andy Murray vs Tommy Paul

Quote

Yes why shut off the broadcast and not let us see the happiest time.
I think I'll contact the ATP about this because not being able to see the ultimate climax to a tournament isn't fair to the players and the viewers.

Exactly Alieen I would have loved to see him hold the trophy.

I suppose we might get a pic somewhere, but I still feel cheated!  Even if they'd let us see Andy's celebrations it would have been something to remember.

I think Andy was pretty nervous in the first set, but he pulled himself together. It’s amazing that he can do that, such a fighter.

Cute video.
Btw, the text insinuates Andy might skip Rome. Understandable as he has played some matches in a row. On the other hand, a lot of points are at stake to boost his ranking. Tough decision, unless his body decides.

I’ve had a lot going on lately so not seen much tennis.  Sounds like I’ve missed a great week.  Good to see Andy lifting a trophy again.

That's impressive stuff versus a top 20 dude.

He's on the way back!

It was special because Andy started badly (as some of us have come to expect) and he slowly just put it all together to find a way to win, with a little help from Tommy Paul. Worth a watch even in replay. He is a competitor of great ability. He may be ranked only at 42 now but he was better on the day than the world number 17 whose favourite surface is clay!

I was lucky enough to see the whole match.
It was quite the turnaround after that first set, and a big level drop from Paul. The key change was Murray served tons better and Paul's fell off a cliff. I think in set 2 he was 27% on second serve points won. But Murray battened down the hatches and played solid as a rock, and towards the end he really loosened up, ad his starting popping the forehand.
My mate told me this is the biggest challenger on tour, and that ATP in general are tying to step up the prestige of the events. 175 points, and quite frankly stronger than some ATP fields I've seen the past year.
It's a promising week. He's been streaky this year, but to me he seemed lacking practice on the dirt which explains his awful results at Madrid and Monte Carlo.
Ugh and that stream! I couldn't believe it, it went right as he went to face the crowd post handshake. I know its not proper coverage but jeez!

Also, on a final note. He won 5 straight matches this week and 4 against Frenchmen. It's been a while since he played that many matches in a row!
