Andy at Cincinatti 2019

This is what we've been longing to hear!
I hope he takes it a bit easy, but then Andy knows best.

Andy's match against Gasquet is scheduled third on Centre, so estimate 3 pm local, 8 pm BST.

Both TennisTV and Amazon Prime are showing it, although there appears to be a considerable discrepancy as to the time!

His doubles match with Lopez isn't on today's schedule.

I've gone for approx 7pm on the front page alert in case the preceding matches are over quickly. Can add the match thread link later.

The two matches before Andy's on Center Court are both women—Mertens v. McNally, who start at 11 am East Coast time and Venus v. Lauren Davis. So Andy is tentatively down to start at 1:30 pm my time, 6:30 UK, which seems slightly optimistic. But I would definitely think a bit sooner than 8. Unfortunately it'll be the hottest time of the day, in the high 80s, i.e., about 30˚C.

Thanks Tamara.  I think I was being a bit generous with the women's matches!  Rather unfortunate about the timing as well but Andy at least should be able to cope with the heat, although I expect it's quite humid as well.

Good compromise and a time the BBC also suggests..  I thought ATL would have opened a match thread but as she hasn't I will.

Great to see Andy playing singles again I think playing with Feliciano has given him confidence. Good lucky Andy  hope everything goes well.

I think that playing with Lopez has been the most beneficial of his attempts at doubles. He has a good rapport with Lopez who at Montreal was more angry with himself and played badly. Andy seemingly was able to talk him into some better concentration. I was surprised they lost there.

I see that now Andy has announced that he is doing two more singles tournaments later in China. If that then confirms he is NOT going to consider the US Open I am very pleased. What I think he needs most now is to have at least two, preferably three singles matches in a row (ie with one or two wins at one event). His doubles efforts have tended to be against high quality opposition which was hard so a couple of winnable matches from a good draw somewhere is my dream.

Gasquet, is not my favourite choice for that. I saw him play a week ago and he was able to compete with some of the best. Then the winner has to play Thiem, much admired on this site, for good reason so this is not an easy draw at all?

Thanks.  I'd forgotten that!   Also their H2H is 8-3 Andy.

^ Aileen, you have left out a walkover win so it should be 9-3?  I think that they all count? Then (in 2014) he would have won anyway. Did I remember reading somewhere that Andy has more of these wins from walkovers and from opponents retiring?  Someone will bound to know.

^ MA - Strictly speaking yes, but I'm not taking that into account in the match thread because Gasquet too has had a walkover against Andy.  It makes life a little less complicated if we just stick to the FedEx ATP Head2Head series!

Aileen,  I give in to that idea. I was being my usual too complicated self?  I am just watching the clock tick down to his match having watched Jamie eventually win another doubles with Neal Skupski. After winning in Phoenix their tennis seems to have deteriorated (at least the winning had stopped). Looking forward to the Gasquet match as it will be a tough one if the Frenchman  plays well. I remember that 3-2 match at Wimbledon which finished in the dark that was very watchable.

I remember that match too MA and seem to recall that Andy turned it round when he was two sets to love and 5-4 down.  I hate to think what would have happened had Andy not managed to serve it out when he did though otherwise it would have been suspended at 5-5 because the crowd was in a state of total frenzy by then!

The Murray/Lopez vs Rojer/Tecau doubles match is scheduled 2nd on court 4 after the Siniakova vs Vekic match.  Play gets underway at 11am  which is 4pm UK time.

Thanks Geo.  So approx. 6 pm BST.  Unfortunately as it's on court No.4 there's no guarantee that anyone in the UK will be able to see it, unless perhaps Amazon Prime show it.  Just hope Andy's recovered from his exertions yesterday because he was getting pretty tired by the end of the match and his opponents are going to be tough to beat at the best of times.

I don't know if Amazon Prime cover every court as I don't have that or Tennis TV.  I'll just be following it on the ATP website through their live score service.  Last week in Montreal was a bit of a disappointment against Chardy and Martin after the great start in the first set and being up 4-1 and 6-4 in the match tie break.  They have to be more clinical like they were at Queens when in those type of situations and win it by whatever score.

I agree about Montreal and Queens.  Hopefully somebody might provide a link to a free live stream then you won't be tied to watching live scores.
