With six bedrooms plus whatever, I would hope so.  As for disadvantages, I've never once heard Andy mention any, just how much he enjoys being at home with his family and friends - and of course his beloved dogs.
Like I say, distractions, pleasant and much deserved though they be.

Quite interesting to see who are wearing poppies and who not. Not judging, just commenting.

I see Raonic is in the line-up, which is interesting given his recent injury.

Maybe you don't realise, but it's often been said that Andy lives an almost monk-like existence during tournaments, adhering to a strict diet and fitness/practice regime, so I can't see him letting that go here, particularly with so much at stake.

I know you aren't judging, but I don't see why anyone could expect non-British/Commonwealth players to wear poppies.

As Aileen said, it's only British and commonwealth nations who mark the end of war with the poppy! We don't mark the end of the Serbian war.

Yes, of course I know all that. But that doesn't prevent others wearing one if they choose. And every nation represented at the WTF, with the exception of Switzerland, suffered horribly in the European wars.

The First World War was ignited by a Serbian nationalist assassinating the heir to the empire which was oppressing his people. The country now known as Serbia was directly impacted upon by the First World War, and the subsequent problems in that region were a direct result of the Versailles Treaty.

I honestly don't care who does or doesn't wear a poppy, but some historical awareness wouldn't go amiss.

To be absolutely accurate, he was a Bosnian acting on behalf of a group that wanted to unite all the Slav nations subjugated in the ramshackle Austro-Hungarian Empire in what ultimately became Yugoslavia after WW1.

I thought it was more to do with remembering the dead from both wars TBH. And, although I don't wear a poppy of either colour, I don't think remembering all those  sad, lost lives, however you choose to do it, can be a  bad thing.
It's when the accusing finger is pointed at those who choose not to, that's when it turns nasty.

Very aware that this thread is being diverted, but have to say I agree with you. I also have a deal of unease in that much of the Remembrance celebration is implicitly glorifying war and dying in the service of your country.

Thanks for the more accurate info. Lack of historical awareness is a big problem and society is pretty complacent about that. As you say, wrong thread, we can discuss it somewhere more appropriate if we want to.

So, for the purposes of this thread, to divert us a away from World Wars and political poppies, here's the World Number One:

Quite an impressive trophy - don't think I've ever paid attention to it before. Really hope Andy gets to hold it officially before long, but it's a huge ask.
