Andy at the 2016 WTF

Quote

My only fear about this afternoon is that Stan is a vulture. That is, his standard of play is always in inverse proportion to the fitness and fatigue of his opponent. It's a spooky phenomenon.  All things being even, Andy can beat him all day every day. So I hope Andy's amazing powers of recovery hold out for 3 more days.

Good work Cilic!

So as things stand, Murray has beaten #6, #5 and #4 (in that order!) and now needs to deal with #3 and (presumably, although Nishikori is a real step up for him) #2...

Sorry, I don't quite get that.  Going by this week's rankings, Andy has beaten #7, #5 & #3.  Now he has to deal with #4 and then, hopefully, #2.

He's talking about their current standings after all the WTF points gained this week have been taken into account

Cilic is currently #6 Nishikori is now #5 and Stan #4. Raonic has now moved to #3, and if Andy makes the final Djokovic is of course #2

Yes, this... :-)

It's kind of cheating a little bit, but sort of legitimate at the same time.

And now it's all worked out perfectly - beating #6, #5, #4, #3 in that order.

Just the small matter of ticking off the #2 step tomorrow...;-)

Just a couple of other tidbits:

ATP: "With the victory, he became the first player to win the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals title after saving match point since Roger Federer in 2006 in Shanghai."

Sky: "And Murray has broken serve in all 87 singles matches he's played this year."
