Andy plays the World No, 41 Lorenzo Sonego in round 1 with the prospect of the No, 10 seed Felix Auger-Aliassime in round 2, while the No. 7 seed Jannik Sinner could await in round 3.

Last year when they played in Montreal Andy lost 1-6, 3-6 to Taylor Fritz in round 1.

I saw that draw earlier and thought this is another chance for at least two rounds. I would hope that he is playing well enough to beat Sonego and he has a chance against Auger-Aliassime. It depends which Felix turns up. He is not Mr. Consistency.

My own view is that with some good draws he should aim to be achieving three wins at the upcoming tournaments. Getting Taylor Fritz in R3 at Washington was a hard one but I maintain my view that he could and should have won that one. Fritz has a very limited (good) game so Andy should have been able to freeze him out with his greater skills. However that is past albeit a pointer to what he can achieve next time out. Hopefully I will get to watch Toronto R1 in full.

Thanks, so hope Andy does a bit better at this tournament, so he will feel a bit more positive.

In Washington Taylor Fritz lost his semi and Dan beat Grigor so an unexpected final. Makes you wonder about all those break points? However onwards to Toronto and  the other thread. Thanks Aileen.

Probably not surprising but Andy isn't down on the schedule for Monday, so it must be Tuesday.

Good luck Andy, sending good vibes for a good first serve winning points percentage, along with aces and magical returns. You can do it, I believe!!!!
