Andy at Wimbledon 2012

Quote

Raonic is too hyped in my opinion. its like everyones trying to turn him into the next big thing by mass hypnosis. He's not fit to lick sampras's boots imo. Sure he's a threat but over a 5 setter that threat is considerably diminished.

Agreed. He made no impression at the French Open despite expectations.

I think the draw is a good one. None of these big-hitting types has ever beaten Andy on the Wimbledon turf.  A possible shoot-out with Delpo in the quarters looks interesting but how far has Delpo ever been at Wimbledon?

The furthest he's reached in R4 last year against Rafa. He played really well that match but generally he struggles on grass. Hard to know who's going to make the QF out of that section as Ferrer's not stellar on grass either. Might even end up being Roddick if he can put some good form together.

Watching Roddick at Eastbourne today he looks like a man on a mission!

I have £10 on Raonic to win the whole thing at 40-1. If it comes down to a Raonic v Murray 4th round, I'm going to be torn.

And so is Haas, isn't he? This might just be their last year on tour.

Hewitt will probably retire too.

Wow that must have been written by a Federer fan. When's the last time Fed beat Rafa in a slam? 2007? Just don't see it happening here.

Raonic in the SFs is definitely a step too far at the moment. If he has a bad serving day he can be beaten by anyone.

Had a look ast the H2H for Andy and they look favourable.

Davydenko 5-4 (Davydenko's in early matches)
Dimitrov 1-0
Cilic 5-1
Del Potro 5-1
Karlovic 3-0
Anderson 1-1
Gasquet always beaten in GS
Ferrer  beaten on hard courts only lost on clay.

I konow this does not always work but it must help mentally.

Thanks for that link Elena.  It was jus what I have been thinking that the forehand has improved so much but siometimes it can affect the rest of his play until it becomes second nature.  I hope that he makes the SF but feel that it is too soon for the Lendl effect to start really showing but it might.  I have faith in Andy as you cannot put a talent down.

I'm keeping quiet at the moment - for some reason I feel very pessimistic about Andy's prospects at Wimbledon. Don't really know why and I'm desperate for him to prove me wrong. It's just that so many of the up and coming players seem to have what it takes to beat him at the moment, let along Novak and Rafa. Of course I'll watch and hope but.........
