Interesting comments from Nole.. who's not exactly known to hide his feelings on court.

Unless that player is very confident that regardless of his injury, he can still win. It can come down to that as well. Andy clearly isn't afraid to show his emotion on court during a match and that's actually fine by me.

However, I do know that the likes of Sampras, Federer, Borg are the opposite way. This doesn't mean that they didn't have something niggling going on or that,at times, they didn't feel emotionally drained (in Pete's case, he actually ended up showing a lot of emotion after he found out Tim's brain tumour and a couple of other times) but this simply meant as a strategy not to show their emotions, when it came to both types of injuries – mental or physical. For example, if Federer did have a mild case of mono, then it's no wonder that he didn't want reveal it during 2008 AO but went on to mention it much later.

As to Andy and his back, I really don't think he needs to defend himself. It's clear to me Haas doesn't like Andy to begin with (and there are some others like Wade etc.) and so this gives him a perfect opportunity to give it a go at Andy. Same goes for Wade etc. You can always tell that some people will always hate you regardless and will always wait for the opportunity to pour down the hatred towards that person. Clearly Andy is a very nice person and always means well but hatred is such a strong emotion that it tends overlook all that. Andy would be advised to disregard all this. The world is full of wonderful people and he can always choose to be with people who mean well and from whom he can learn and grow the most.

Just avoid these mean minded people, Andy and don’t feel that you need to defend yourself, because it’s not going to make them happy no matter what you say, so it’s a fruitless attempt.

Unfortunately. EJ, the majority of the great British public are quite happy to believe anything that Andy's detractors have to say so I, for one, am delighted that he has decided to set the record straight -good for him!

Part of me is very glad that he stood up but part me feels it's just a waste of time. Think of it this way, both Haas and Wade had absolutely no first hand knowledge about Andy's injury, yet Haas definitely thought Andy was faking. This also means he was already convinced that Andy is capable of faking. And then, he went on to speak about it in public without giving it an ounce of thought that; one, he could be dead wrong and two, this would make Andy look really bad. Where was the consideration of it all in all this? So in my eyes, this shows pure hatred towards Andy and nothing else. Because if Haas were such man of whatever the ****, he would have then talked about all the injuries that had all the elements of a faked one, but he has no history of doing so. So I say Andy is not going to change anyone's mind any time soon even with all the medical documents in the world. Those who don't like him will remain skeptic and judgmental. But I think this is all because Andy has pushed some buttons with some people and these people are just now being vindictive. He definitely doesn't give two hoots about these people and aren't into pleasing them all the time. Or else you have to wonder as to why it's always Andy and/or/why Andy makes an easy target.
