David Lloyd thinks that Andy should improve his serve and image and then he'll have more of a chance of winning a slam. Eyebrow raise. Perhaps he should help with taking the burden off Andy as being our only player in the top 100/200 and that he alone can't win the Davis Cup for Team GB.

Quite happy at Andy's response

Andy Murray has responded to criticism from former Davis Cup captain David Lloyd over his appearance.

Andy likes being Andy yes

I feel that it would be a mistake for Andy to play doubles. There are other pairs more suited than the two Murrays.

Incidentally, it is the first time that I have agreed with John Lloyd. Like him I believe that by smartening himself up, including being clean-shaven, he will give an aura to his opponent that he belongs on the court and that he is a winner before they start playing.
OSS - think it was David Lloyd who made the comments.
Err ... I thought it was John as well but like OSS just read quickly through the stuff on the Beeb.

I notice that Andy has shaved except for his moustache.  From an aesthetic point of view, I'd prefer to see him completely clean-shaven because I don't think he suits even the moustache, but I do agree with what he says - that being unshaven didn't do Borg any harm.  Lloyd's too outspoken for his own good these days, having already fallen foul of the LTA because of his opinions.  He should get off Andy's back.

I don't see any point in having Andy play in the doubles in this tie either.  I'm sure Jamie and Colin are a more appropriate choice because they are, after all, doubles players.  This is a team effort, not a one-man show!

So Dan Evans has replaced Fleming in the final team. Surely Fleming must have an injury of some sort Think

How do you know Dan Evans is in the team?  Surely if it is Colin that's out they would have been better putting Ross in as he's up in Scotland anyway?

From BBC Sport, 7 July -

"There was one change announced to the British squad with Daniel Evans coming in as the back-up player in place of doubles expert Colin Fleming, who has a foot injury."
