Great news, but how come he needs a Wild Card? I thought he has automatic entry.

Hello

Entry deadlines I guess... for direct entry he would have to have applied earlier, and he wasn't planning to be there...

I think its actually better for Andy to do qualifying, he will be trying to go back to his 2005 game style and qualifying will help with that transition.

I agree, especially at the beginning of the year.

According to the Zagreb website Andy still hasn't been awarded a Wildcard for Zagreb, he is the closest to receiving it though, check out the latest news release www.zagrebindoors.com/indoors.htm go to the daily news section.

Latest news release (23rd Jan).
"The issue of the third wild card is still open. For the moment, the closest to receiving it is Andy Murray. I think that in a year or two he will be a Top 10 player, and so this would be a good investment for the future. There is also a chance for the wild card to go to one of the great names in world tennis. The chances for this are not too big, but, one should always hope. I, of course, know who it is, but I'm not going to tell you", concluded Goran in his style."
So by the sounds of it, the "great name in world tennis" Goran was talking about was Safin. But he is not fit. So hurry up and give it to Andy please!
