Highlights of the match, which hopefully Eurosport won't close down

lol  Well he certainly kept to the script, but only just!

I thought it was a very entertaining match anyway, and it was nice to see these two actually enjoying playing each other and getting a lot of fun out of it, even if, quite understandably, their natural competitive instincts did creep in from time to time.
Certainly was a entertaining match I very much enjoyed it .

Andy said afterwards how much he'd enjoyed playing, his one slight regret being that he hadn't quite been able to take it to a third set!   I thought he was playing very well, all things considered, so it's a shame really that it's only his elbow which is holding him back.  He  said it's still a little bit painful but that it felt better as the match went on.  He's aiming to be fit for MC, but says he'll see how things feel after this match.

From what I saw neither guy was pushing too hard to win, lots of entertaining exchanges.

Pretty normal stuff, FR, and good fun.  Hopefully the Roger bashers will take their vitriol and stick it where the sun don't shine.

Well that's what charity matches are all about.  In fact watching the highlights, even if I did watch the match, while I'm not so sure about Andy, I noticed there were quite a few times where I'm convinced Fed deliberately made an error to give Andy the point, at least in the first set, which was the decent thing to do really given Andy's present situation, although he definitely seemed much more confident in the second and played some excellent shots, even serving three aces, all of which was very encouraging.  I expect we'll find out soon whether he considers himself fit enough to play in MC.

Definitely. There was a lot of constructed play around soft lobs and net exchanges including a body shot on Fed which couldn't have annoyed the GOAT too much because they were both laughing about it.

lol  I thought that body shot was great, and fairly benign by their standards, so nothing really for Fed to get annoyed about.  However, I know Andy said afterwards that he would have liked it to go to a third, but I think it's probably just as well it didn't because I think real competitiveness might have started to kick in since there must be a limit to just how long these guys are prepared to fool around.  I remember when he played Dimitrov in Glasgow things started to get more serious towards the end of the second set when it began to look like Dimi might win it, and it'll certainly be interesting to see how things go in this year's Andy Live when he plays Fed there.

i saw that quote from Andy but I got the vibe that two sets was fine for both of them, certainly Andy coming back off an injury. The match point concession to the ball kid was sheer genius too on many levels.

It certainly was!  Also in this article Andy talks about how he didn't think he'd be fit enough to play here until almost the last minute, so I reckon he was quite happy just to play two sets.  Also I'm sure that Fed would have had a replacement lined up just in case, so it would be interesting to know who it was.  Meanwhile he says his participation in Monte Carlo is still in doubt.

PS - Having looked at the entry list for MC I think Andy would be wise to give it a miss!  At least Kyle and Dan are playing so still some British interest.  He could always play in a minor tournie in the run-up to Madrid, which is something he seemed to hint at if he had to skip MC.

I really do hope Andy can play at Monte Carlo.

Fed's sarcasm is as tip top as his tennis it seems...even at a charity match.

Before the match, the players spoke to Eurosport and both were asked what the other one does better. Murray said: 'Pretty much everything'. Federer said: 'Speaking English and being a Sir.'

So no thought of representing his country at the Olympics then.  Whistle
