AO 2013 R2: Murray [3] vs Sousa

Quote

All the more motivation for Andy to make it a quick match and get back into the shade!  Although it's probably not going to get much cooler and a bit of practise playing in the heat could be useful?

Thanks Bevc for the HtoH,I knew nothing about Sousa. I wish Andy did'nt have to play in 40 degrees temp forecast by the BBC Surely it has to be Andy in 3

It's just as hot for the other guy too! This is what Andy has done his prep for; it might give him that extra motivation to get it over more quickly.

Ah well, this is one for the recorder, having discovered that the damned thing did record the Haase match after all! I just hope Eurosport doesn't pee about with channels too much.

I'm sure Andy will be up for this and ready to go. He trains for these sorts of conditions. He'll be ready. I still think that some of his wobbles in the heat at the USO were due to not having been able to go to Miami after Wimbledon, due to being a tad busy winning Olympic gold. However, this is a new season, he's had that time in Miami, and for the record I think he looks splendid. I mean seriously, has he ever looked fitter than this?

Having never seen Sousa play I think it's hard to judge, but I anticipate Andy coming out ready to get on with it and get the job done quickly, so that he can get out of the heat. I have a feeling Sousa might get a bit of a shock as to what is coming, although, judging by a comment or two I have read, it doesn't sound as if Sousa is brimming with confidence about his chances. In the nicest possible way I can't say I blame him.

Andy in three quick sets.

Luckily it's not exactly a skill that will help him tomorrow.
You'd think not, but if it's a sign of enhanced spatial awareness, who knows?

I have just remembered (and checked) that the Hisense arena has a roof. So under their heat policy if it's too hot tomorrow [and sounds like it could be when Andy is playing] surely they'll close the roof? And apart from when he plays smugfed, Andy is usually good indoors. So I'm going to stop worrying about the heat folks.

Any ideas if and where the match will be televised? I'm guessing it won't be on the main feed I get here in South Africa, what with Serena Williams and Bernard Tomic playing on Rod Laver, but will it be on Eurosport and are there any good streams around?

The match will definitely be on Eurosport, and as such there will be plenty of streams around.

If you check on here just before the match starts there is normally a couple of streams provided. If not, bookmark the following site and try some of the streams on there.

Andy's the 1/200 favourite to win this match - the shortest odds for any match in the second (bottom half) and third rounds (top half). It should be a comfortable 3 set win for him.

Good point Ruthie about the roof - I'd imagine the extreme heat policy will come into force tomorrow if the forecast is right. It must be so tough to have to play tennis in such temperatures.

Andy just needs to ignore all media and betting odds ....complacency has undone many a great athlete historically.

Having watched a few games now..... Djoko looks like he is playing his best ever... looks very fit also...all the publicity re:Muzza's pre season fitness efforts and to me Djoko looks fitter than ever also.

Fed is looking good...albeit against low ranked opponents...however I sense he will be no match for the fitness of Djoko and Murray this time around. They both look more powerful than him...

Had to laugh at an Aussie comm and an English comm at the open. English comm was clearly sucking upto his Bush bro and had one of those 'Andy is'nt from England and doesnt eat bangers and mash with a pint whilst holding an english flag in one hand' .

' So who would you like to see in the respective finals?'
English Joey: Uhm....Id like to see a Fed v Djoko final ...just coz of contrasting styles.... and Sam Stosur in the womens( coz i want Aussies to like me)
Passive Aggressive Anti Brit Joey: yeah Id agree ...def Fed v Djoko (or anyone who isnt British)..and anyone v Stosur( who despite a history of choking is a true blue Oz sheila so surely the world would want her in the final.

Lol....Stosur the choker??....bye bye

Hope Fed chews Tomic and spits him into Gold coast.

C'Mon Andy, Laura and Heather!!!
