Qyote from interview on BBC
"If I play like I did tonight I have got a good chance (against Cilic). The nerves are going to be there because it is the chance to make the final of a Grand Slam but I lost to him at the US Open so I will be looking for revenge."

It's such a shame that Andy didn't get the adrenalin boost of a high after winning the quarters. Obviously he'll be pleased to be in the semi final but he was cheated of that high off a winning stoke and the reception from the crowd. I just hope that doesn't react as a bit of a 'downer' as he goes into the semis.
He has got everything he needs to beat Cilic and if he plays like he has done this tourney so far he will. Nerves may play a part - but Cilic is only 21 and going for his first slam final - he should be the more nervous of the two.
And he has to play an inform Murray which must be a bit daunting

Ah, but as Henners said on the Today programme this morning, if you're not nervous then you don't care and you should always care, otherwise what's the point?
This is the dude whose nerves cost him though so salt, grain of?

3 Sets
I think its be 6-3 6-2 6-4
cilic isn't gonna be happy with himself after the match
never seen murray playing this good its fantastic to watch
wished andy roddick had won so murray could slap him some pay back and would have been another serious test
roddick even admitted he was injured and not at his best yet cilic struggled to finish the match 3 set to murray
whos the last player to win a grand slam without loosing a set

Yeah loving getting these at good times
Though the final (if he gets there) will be when I'm at church and I need to be there on Sunday otherwise I'd skip it
Oh well will come straight home and watch the replay without checking the score...or I'll get someone to text me the score and try not to shriek in the middle of the service

Is it certain that the final will be played at 8.30 our time? How long does the service last, Hazel?

Hmm I'd wondered if it would be later than that
Well if it's 8.30 then I definitely see the first couple of hours then
service is at 11am but I have to get there slightly early, doing a sketch that I'll need to check some stuff for

Just give church a miss, the Lord will understand. He'll probably be watching the final anyway so won't hear your prayers!

Yup, it's a trait I've noticed, even as far back as the juniors.
I have a feeling Cilic will get a hammering. 6-2, 6-3, 6-2

I personally don't see anything wrong with admitting you'll be nervous. Every player is nervous almost all of the time, if not, all you would see is players trying to clean the lines and not caring a jot about the score.
Nerves are present in every single shot:
- where to hit the ball
- how hard to hit it
- how much net clearance
- where my opponent is
- should i go for a clean winner
- what will happen if i play a more defensive shot
- where should i move my feet to
- where should i be hitting the ball
Tennis is a game of ifs, and when ifs occur that aren't really in your control, you'll be nervous. Saying you're nervous is an acknowledge of them and a sign of growing maturity. The cliche when players are interviewed is to come up with some bumph about "never really suffering from nerves".
The number of times I've seen a player not being nervous and being absolutely in the zone is well, once. Federer playing Agassi in the WC final in 2003 and that was for a period of about 10 games.

Its a roller coaster ride with Andy, lets hope he finds the consistancy over the next 5 days to play his best tennis and if he can then look out the rest of the field. However these are good players and Andy can't afford the laspes which he has been prone in the past. Come on Andy, show the doubters.
