ATP Basel.

Whow... Fed has made it to just under 8000 which is impressive enough. I think Arka confirmed Roger has the highest no of points anyone has ever held (and he plays more MS this year, so beat his own record last week), anyone know who he beat, and how many points they had?

Arka, surely after someone wins a GS, they would not need to play qualifying for anything else afterwards? So why qualifying points for Rotterdam?

He broke his own record I believe. Wink

Entry lists are announced four weeks before the event. Smile

Rotterdam entry list comes out before the Aussie Open is over.

Yeah, lots of them, i meant before him as in different person... McEnroe? Becker? Sampras? I always wonder where the journalists get those kind of stats: not from the ATPsite, I checked that...

Sorry about Rotterdam - didn't check dates. But if that's so close, would there be time to play semi's and final in the Aussie, and qualies for Rotterdam?

Sampras had a year ending 5097 points. I don't know about the rolling thing..... I'll inform you if I ever come across it.

Yep.

Rotterdam and Aussie Open have three weeks between them. Smile

I have a feeling that even with the entry lists announced the winner of the Aussie open may be granted a WC for any event of their choice.

Ok, also I looked at the points for this and to gain qualifying to Doha you'd have to be ranked in or close to top 200. At this level you'd have no less than 160points. (179 now would see you ranked 200) add 250 points to this would see you ranked top 100 (if you were on 450 points you'd be around 88th) and therefore you'd gain direct entry to a slam. But I suppose the entry list for the Aussie is done before Doha points are added too?

Yeah, but this discussion is purely surreal in any case. Wink

You can be a player from Qatar ranked 1103 in the world. You can be a wildcard in the qualies draw that is.

Yep. Smile

So if Andy gets a Top 8 seeding then he gets a bye in the first round? Smile

They're 32 players which divides into 2^n a number of times to eventually leave 1 player left. Hence no first round byes.

I'd be really happy if someone found a mistake in my calculations and informed me. hug

I think if you play Masters Cup you can only have 4 non-compulsory countable tournaments.

No hang on, think I'm wrong... but I'm sure there's something funny like that. Nope I was just imagining things lol

Next week......

Andy reached the quarters last year, so he'll have some defending to do.
