We are into the second week of the Australian Open, and this is where the tournament really begins to hot up for Andy, who seems to have gone back to his old ways of progressing through draws with minimal fuss and playing his very best.
The occasion is set, and this match-up was very much anticipated for Murray fans, and equally feared! In the fourth round of the 2015 edition of the Australian Open, Murray will face 10th seeded Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria. This is the first time these two will meet in a Slam since that unforgettable quarter-final match at the Wimbledon Championships last year, where shockingly the Bulgarian prevailed in straight sets, with Andy providing little trouble for the flashy Dimitrov. However this encounter is a different scenario, throughout the tournament Murray has looked very much at his best after the below average year he had last year, and Dimitrov seems to be struggling, taking four sets to beat Lukas Lacko in the second round and five sets to beat the resurgent Marcos Baghdatis in the third round.
This match will be a sweet chance at some revenge for Murray, despite them playing once since then at the Paris Masters at the end of 2014. With this match having far more weight and significance for both guys with the unexpected loss of Roger Federer from the tournament in this quarter, some will feel this is where Murray will fight to get his real revenge over the 10th seed.
Murray and Dimitrov have met on six occasions in the past, most recently at the Paris Masters last year, where Murray prevailed in straight sets. Murray leads the H2H over the Bulgarian 4-2.
This match will take place on Day 7 (Sunday 25th January) of the Australian Open, last night session match on Rod Laver Arena at approx. 9AM GMT.
