Australian Open 2023

Andy Murray—what an utter legend!!! Started watching in the third set when I was really hoping he'd do it in straights. Couldn't believe it when Berettini muffed that match point. And then Andy just took it to him in the final tiebreak! What a guy!!!!!! Comeback of the century.   yay yay yay

Oh, man...tears of joy for Andy.
What a great match.
B played three good sets.
Andy played five and deserved the win.
Bless his heart, I bet he won't be able to move tomorrow.
A match like that has been a long time coming.
Just so proud of him!!!

What a legend woke up early as my stomach was churning and hear racing when thought how did he get on, still get the same feeling as when he played 10 years ago. Well done Andy a legend indeed  cmon yeah yay

Wow!!
I watched the whole thing, 4 hours 49 mins.
Every minute felt for me like Andy’s Swan Song at the AO; especially seeing Judy there for her boy.
Andy played brilliantly the first 2 sets. Then Berrettini found his FH and his bullet serve. Along with Andy becoming a bit fatigued, and his brilliantly thought out shots being overplayed.
But then, my gawd, that 5th set TB, Andy completely took charge!
He looked like a worn warrior walking off the court, which he was, glad he’s got a wee bit of a physical break before his next match, and a whole lot of mental fortitude to be happy about!
He was very emotional when he sat in his seat after the match. Bless x

Brilliant.

I was worried when the very young Andy resurfaced and the drive volley went long but the comment of him now to be always known as Sir Andy was appropriate.

That really was a massive win, and ever more of a confidence booster due the way he needed to win. I honestly thought he was going to let it slip, but that was a monumental effort.
I couldn't stay awake so missed set 4 and most of 5, but saw the rest and was back up in time for the tie break. His game looks in good shape. I t always does when Lendl is around the scene more. Well done Sir Smile

I never saw any of this, but just reading the comments - WOW!!  I had a feeling Andy might pull this match off but not in such a dramatic fashion!

Love it!  Andy may never win the AO but I'm sure this epic will live long in the memory.

As a result of this match, Berrettini's ranking has dropped seven places to No. 21 because he had 710 points to defend.

When the draw came out, many of us may have feared the worst. The thing with the heart and brain. Watching the first two sets, which were nearly immaculate tennis from Andy, I really believed in a win. After the third set, I was sure Andy could only come through if he did it in four sets. Unfortunately, I had to leave the match before the TB, constantly checking the score. But with the fifth set lingering on, I could hardly see Andy winning the final shoot-out in the MTB. How wrong was I!
Andy deserved to win the match: he was the smarter player. Without his big serve, B would only be average.
