Ah well….presumably all the games over the last 10 days caught up with him. Andy would never normally play the week before a slam but I guess he needed match fitness

I read two reports that had Andy winning by straight sets and one by 4 sets if Andy was fit and recovered from his five set win.  This did not seem like a very exciting match, but then I did not see it.  I am sad for Andy. His coach was good to help him win the first match but I'm not too impressed with the plans for this match.  Granted Andy had not played this guy for 5 years and both players have changed during that time.  Daniel's rank is 120 to Andy's 135.  I think we all agree that Andy has to get some consistency going in his tennis.  He plays beautiful one match and the next he doesn't.  I am sure that Andy is going to be working on this.  I'm sad to see that he couldn't win this match and continue to win into the second week.  I am sure Andy is sad and frustrated as well.   Well, he can go home and see his kids and wife and try to figure things out.  These days he's like the little girl with the curl in the middle of her forehead, when she was good, she was very good, when she was bad, she was horrid.  Haha well Andy is never horrid.  I love you Andy, I hope you get this all figured out because you are really good a lot of the time.

Not very clear what was going on? He's so disappointed. This one hurts a lot....

Trying to find the match after the 1st segment finished on  prime at 2 hours 37, took me a painstaking 2 hours  to eventually find the other half of this!  Disappointing for Andy but like mentioned previously he was a bit cumbersome today, Hopefully he can shake the soot of his wings and get on with the game he loves most.

I had a bad feeling about this match, which I didn't watch, but hoped Andy would prove me wrong.  I think playing Sydney right before the AO, something he wouldn't normally have done, proved just too much.  Also having looked at Daniel's tennis record he's beaten quite a few fairly high profile players, and in addition defeated Djokovic in three sets at Indian Wells in 2018.

From BBC Sport -

"At face value, Daniel appeared to be someone of the ranking and pedigree that Murray should be able to beat.

But in reality he faced a sharp opponent brimming with confidence after coming through qualifying and the first round without dropping a set.

"After a good win in the first round I created an opportunity for myself. It was probably a match I should win and I didn't take that chance," Murray told BBC Sport.

"I was not able to sustain a good enough level for long enough, whereas he was solid throughout.

"I'm obviously very disappointed with that."

Another loss to a qualifier!

It seems as if he would have more chance to beat any top ten player?  I have to admit that Taro played well so good luck to him in the next round. I suggest Andy's strategy was lacking. Not a lot of prepation was evident to me.

What to do now?  He needs to just dust himself off and try again and  again. With each match won, at any level, he will enjoy it more and with that comes confidence to take control of his matches which he clearly was not able to do.

I shall be supporting at the next tournament.

I have not watched the match and do not intend to do so. Might be painful. On a good day any player can beat the top players. This also happened today to Schwartzman, who lost to a certain O‘Connell (I don‘t know him). Hurkacz lost to Mannarino, all of them in 3 sets.
It was a great opportunity for Andy to reach the next round, but for whatever reason this wasn‘t to be. His opponent apparently had a very good day, Andy may have been flat (or exhausted from playing unusually much tennis recently).
Yes, the defeat is disappointing. Yet, I hope Andy does not lose the motivation for keeping on. I so love seeing him on court.
