Australian Open R2: Andy Murray vs Thanasi Kokkinakis

The two have met once before, at the Davis Cup in Glasgow in 2015 with Andy winning 6-3, 6-0, 6-3.

26 year old Kokkinakis, who is probably better known to most as the doubles winner along with Nick Kyrgios of last year's Australian Open, is currently ranked No. 159, having had a high of No. 69 in June 2015.   From the beginning of 2016 through to 2021 his career was plagued with injuries, with his right shoulder being the main source of trouble.  He has though beaten six top 20 players during his career, including Roger Federer in Miami in 2918, Marin Cilic in Adelaide last year (where he went on to lift his only ATP Tour title), and Andrey Rublev in Adelaide last week.  He came through his first round match here against Fabio Fognini 6-1, 6-2, 6-2, although questions have been raised as to whether Fognini was tanking or not.
