Basel R2: Andy Murray vs Tomas Martin Etcheverry

^  My view too, Apollo. He reached the same stage as last year so no loss in ranking points. If he plays Paris he has none to defend there so I hope he does play and wins a match and considers next year some easier tournaments, perhaps Challengers, to boost his confidence. All this battling is hard.

I actually thought it was a pretty great match. I know Andy got exhausted and should have found a way not to play so many huge long points—and I think that's what beat him in the end—but what I liked was that he played really good shots. Deep, wide, moving from side to side. He didn't look weak. I honestly think that if he could have had a better run of serves—big first serves—at some important moments, he could have won it pretty convincingly. It was a worthy performance by both of them.

I agree. I saw a pretty good performance from Andy, despite the loss. He handled E‘s serves really well. With a height of 1,96 E had of course some advantages, in particular at BP against him, which frustrated Andy (and me as well).
In Paris the field is bigger and so is the chance to not come up against the top players in R1. But nothing is granted.
