Breaking Sad News: Andy Murray to retire at Wimbledon - AO last match?

I've resigned myself to this news for quite a while now, although actually seeing Andy's words in print has come as a bit of shock.  Also I had a feeling that when Andy said he wanted to retire on his own terms that Wimbledon would be the place where he would do it,  but now it looks as though he won't even get that far.

At least Andy achieved pretty much everything he could as a player before this happened.  Winning slams, winning Olympics gold, winning Year End #1- Player of the Year, etc, and winning our respect and our hearts.  love  Ok. He has achieved so much and is such a wonderful, beautiful man, we have no right to be anything other than grateful for what he has given us.

He's 31. There is so much life and good to come for him. I will look forward to supporting him in the next phase.

crying my eyes out knew this was coming but was so hoping he could make it to Wimbledon.  He is a truly lovely guy with the heart of a lion and he will be sadly, sadly, missed.

You're so right and he really does have the heart of a lion, and we'll always miss him, we won't ever forget him.

I'm just going to miss him so dreadfully. Don't take this the wrong way, but it feels a bit like somebody dying. I know he'll go on to have a great life and do lots of good interesting things, but this is so brutal and it feels sudden even though we've all been expecting it on some level.
