Changes in Andy's team

Quote

Double bagel and I both thought the changes in Andy's team warranted a thread.  Of course we don't know who will replace Dani yet but it seemed odd that such a momentous change is kind of lost in the news articles thread.  So what are our hopes and expectations?  And a plea from both db and myself that this isn't seized on as an opportunity for Amelie-bashing by the usual suspects  Whistle

Well I was very surprised as everyone else is , but I'm sure Andy didn't sack them like in the apprentice Wink I'm also sure Andy knows what he needs, maybe a complete change will be good, new energies new ideas , after all as you said Ruthie Andy pays the wages, and taking stock and change could be just what he needs , time will tell, I wish him all the best for 2015, who ever he chooses , I really think he will have a great year , he loves proving people wrong .

A sky sports article about the IPTL (link in the new articles thread) suggests that this event will be "the first chance to see him under his currently unnamed back-room staff".  Hmm.  So soon?  Interesting also that Jez Green is not being replaced.

LOL.  "Dani, Jez, can I speak to you a second?  You're fired!"     shocking   Nah.

Absolutely true that.  He will be determined to prove that he has a solid team going forward.  And a determined Andy is dangerous.   Very Happy

Not for the first time I wonder how anyone ever got the idea that Andy is boring.

Andy needed to change something, still hope he takes on a serving coach for a while.

The thing that sticks out for me was in Valencia where Andy was urging his box to start getting involved and cheering. There was clearly a problem between Mauresmo and Dani and something had to be done. Let's hope a settled backroom staff and his engagement to Kim revitalises him for 2015.

A player as sensitive as Murray can't be having issues with people under his employ, friend or no friend he obviously thinks a change is needed.

I totally agree with that.  Does he really need two coaches now though?  My understanding is that Amellie will be able to travel with him for more weeks in the year than Lendl did, although obviously he'll need a hitting partner.   As far as Jez goes my understanding about that is that Andy felt that his body was no longer able to take the punishing fitness regime Jez does, so in a way I see that as being a positive because hopefully he'll now focus more on his tennis and spend less time in the gym.  He still has Matt Little to deal with the fitness side of things so I'd have thought that would be enough.
