Cincinnati QF: Andy Murray vs Bernard Tomic

Quote

After winning his landmark 600th match on the Tour Murray now meets Australian #21 Bernard Tomic.  Their H2H is 5-0 Murray, with Murray winning their last encounter at the Australian Open 6-4, 6-4, 7-6.  Tomic though has been playing well this tournament and his confidence will have been boosted by his defeat of the 5th seed Kei Nishikori in R3 and before that the 11th seed David Goffin.

The time of the match is not before 8:30pm local time, 1:30am BST, with the weather predicted to be dry with the humidity level at 67%.

At least if Andy gets past this match he has Raonic waiting for him next which should let Andy have a bit of a rest

I will do BBH.  Also given that the ladies' match before it doesn't start until 7pm local time, it won't surprise if Andy isn't on until around 2:00am.

The schedulers obviously aren't taking his European fans into consideration, but I'd rather see Andy play in the evening than in the heat of the day, particularly as yesterday the humidity level was 82%!  It's great seeing Andy playing on a faster court instead of that awful slow one in Rio which just doesn't suit his game.

yeah it might be a pain time wise but it's definitely better for murray's chances here and at the us open that he's playing a bunch of night matches.

anyway, i struggle to imagine tomic pushing him too hard. he's had a couple of good wins but even the nishikori one was a case of him looking like he was willing to throw in the towel before clicking on that nishikori wasn't quite right.

i think in all probability murray will go out to raonic tomorrow. it's a shame it's not the final as i think he would push just that little bit more if it was. as it is, i think it will end up possibly being one match too many and raonic has got to end his recent bad run (6 consecutive defeats) against murray some time, and if ever there was a court and a time...

Great,  This certainly wasn't predicted in any of the three forecasts I looked at, and it's bucketing down as well.

Have they lights for playing into the evening?  It seems to be occasional thunderstorms? Any chance of more play?

OOPs! If I had followed the link I would have seen the ladies warming up. Good as we might get Andy's game in after.

Well it was scheduled for not before 1:30am BST ... but then the rain came along, so it all depends now on how long the ladies' singles lasts.
