Andy now plays 22 year old American Sebastian Korda who defeated the No. 3 seed Roberto Bautista Agut 5-7, 6-4,  6-4.   Currently ranked No. 47, Korda's career-high ranking of No. 30 was achieved on 2 May.  He has won one ATP singles tournament, the 2021 Emilia-Romagna Open.  He also won the junior title at the 2018 Australian Open, 20 years after his father Petr Korda won the Australian Open title.  Korda, who is coached by his father, has long been considered one of the top emerging talents on the Tour, but despite the success of his junior days, has largely failed to live up to expectations.  His 2022 season too has been a fairly disappointing one with inconsistent results, having a win/loss ratio for the year so far of 27-19.  He is though known for his heavy hitting and variety of shots.

At the end of the Cachin match Andy said he hoped that RBA and Korda's match would be a very long one—and it was pretty long, went to three sets, so hopefully Korda won't be fresh as a daisy. But he is a big hitter and of course young and spry. However, while he can sometimes look brillliant, he can definitely have somewhat inexplicably bad days on court too. I think Andy will need to be at his wiliest.
