IW QF: Murray vs Del Potro

Quote

I'm really nervous about this match.

Andy has been playing well enough to get the wins so far, which is all I really ask for (a win is a win,no matter the style or lack thereof) but Delpo's a completely different prospect-he's definitely going to need to up his level massively to win from here on out. Just hope he can do it!C'mon Andy!

My feeling is that Andy is facing an opponent he has played before and who he has a good H2H, will be back on stadium 1 which plays differently to the other court, and this will help him. Remember the US Open and how he played on the main court to his matches on the second court.

Hoping these two play better than they have in past rounds and give us a show worthy of watching Smile. I will be supporting Andy here, as I want him to become World Number 2 so bad, but if Del Potro wins, I won't be majorly upset Smile.

In general court conditions are not great for Andy in Indian Wells. There is a myth that Andy is best on slow courts, which is not always the case. US Open slow court is perfect for Andy, espescially Ashe, which is noticeabally slower than the outsider courts. Here, I'm not sure what it is,  something about the courts that Andy does not like.

I don't have a great feeling about this, but I hope Andy ups his game. He will need to. cmonandy

The bounce is too high. AA or the US Open courts in general are low-bouncing. That suits Andy's game better. Del Potro will have a lot of time to set up his shots because of this. The courts are really horrible.

Can someone add a poll please?

Indian Wells is at altitude, which means the ball goes through the air faster. Yet the courts are slow. I can see how that could completely mess up your timing.

I know Andy came into this with a bit of rust, but he's a different player since last year, so I'm putting my faith in Andy in 3! I'll still be  nervous though!

This isn't the right place to ask but I can't find a better- when was the last time Fed and Nadal met in the 1/4s of a tournament? It must be years ago!

I just read this!

Ben Rothenberg ‏@BenRothenberg
Federer-Nadal QF all set. Their earliest meeting in a non-round robin tournament since way back in Miami 2004. Stock up on popcorn.

Re JMDP playing well, have read that Haas couldn't keep a ball in court so difficult to tell, I'd say.

JMDP hasn't played so well.

The business end of this tournament starts now. I fear if Murray can't beat Delpo in two sets he'll lose in three. I'm hoping that Nadal beats Federer tonight which would really give Andy something to play for.

That's what I thought Prod. Have seen so few matches, just snippets here and there apart from Andy's first match, so I can only go on what I've read.
