Simon is not good on clay. And why should Andy not worry about Wawrinka? I guess you forgot what happened in Mickey Carlo.

They started the match almost at 10pm their time. That's nuts given that he had a day off just yesterday and could have played earlier today and that would have given him some good amount of sleep and time to recover properly. That's my only worry right now.

Hats off to Gilles for one hell of a fight. I admit I didn't think he had it in him. He proved me wrong. I respect that in any player.

Clearly Andy will have to play better than that to beat Berdych. If he could just bring out the good stuff from tonight (he did pull off some stunners, give the lad some credit) and leave the dodgy stuff in the locker room, my insides would be eternally grateful lol. Seriously though, tomorrow (today!) is a new day, so we'll see. I wouldn't bet my life on it, but I hope for the best, which Andy so often gives.

Either way, Andy has gone further than Djokovic and Federer this week. Who would have honestly predicted that on clay? Andy is back at no.2 in the world, and on his own merit, even if I would have accepted it for him even if Federer had gift wrapped it. Anything else is a bonus now, but you never know with Andy, he might just go and do it. We'll see. He loses, if he loses, when he loses, not before, and certainly not before a ball has been struck.

On a slightly different note, fancy Leif Shiras admitting that the courts are probably prepared to suit Nadal....Who would have thought it! They'll be ripping the ruddy grass at Wimbledon up next! I know, I know, sarcasm is indeed the lowest form of wit!

It is a bit premature to worry about Stan, when it's possible neither of them will make it that far.  If Andy does make it that far, then he'll have had considerably more match practice on clay compared with their previous meeting.  Stan is playing great, but IMO he might run out of steam soon.

According to The Telegraph, Andy said:

"I’m not thinking too much about tomorrow’s match, just about recovering from this one, because by the time I’m in bed it will probably be about 3.30, 4am.”

Seems very sensible.

Andy doesn't even have 24 hours recovery time but then again, beating Simon isn't a big deal for Andy so he should get over it. He will be just slightly knackered.

I need to watch a match of Berdy on clay. I forgot the last time I saw him on clay. He does lead Andy on clay 2-0 but those two matches were fairly competitive. It's about time Andy gets a win over him on clay since he's been coming close anyway.

All Andy needs to worry about for now is recovering from tonight, to give himself the best possible chance. Then, tomorrow, he needs to think about how to get through Berdych. Then, and only then, does he need to think about Stan. Time and time again around here some of us get told off for jumping the gun, so let's just not.
