About time a woman was coach of one of the top men. Let's hope it works out.

I am really positive about this new partnership. The above article has only increased my excitment. Andy knows exactly what he is doing, Amelie has so may similarities to him.

I think Andy winning Grand Slams has given him the freedom to make a decision such as this without regard for what others think, he already has the respect of the locker room based on his tennis achievements and nouse.  He is so sensitive and feels things very deeply, therefore with the what little information we have now about the pairing, it appears to be a fantastic decision.

Why would the locker room be a problem? The girls mostly have male coaches,

She is certainly a lot better looking than Lendl. This is key in my opinion.

I was very surprised.  Anything that will be good for Andy is okay with me.

Good to see a positive response from many ex-players to this. Predictable though that some would provide underwhelming comments (e.g. Annabel-end)

As in many areas, it seems harder for women to attract great praise for achievements. I think if Andy had appointed a male two time GS champion, who had then gone on to coach a real outsider (Bartoli) to win at Wimbledon, the appoitment would be getting near universal praise.

I think it's OK to ask the question about the locker room, because it is something a lot of people will wonder about, but they need to stop asking it after the first couple of days.

As Sparkle says it probably will make some people curious as it's so unusual for a male player to have a woman coach, but I'm sure there must be times when players don't want to talk to their coaches in the locker room anyway, so it makes sense that other facilities are available.

She also said his group is fun and she is so serious.Coaching Llodrawho Andy said is a real joker, she is telling fibs me thinks.
That crossed my mind too.  Also you can see in the videos that she has a sense of fun, and Andy would never appoint anyone unless he was sure they had a good chance of fitting in with the rest of his team given that harmony is the key for everyone to work together successfully.

She is certainly a lot better looking than Lendl. This is key in my opinion.
lol  The other thing that I like, and which nobody seems to have mentioned, is that she's so close to Andy in age.  I'm not quite sure why, but I think this could be quite beneficial for him than having another older coach.  Maybe it's because I wasn't too keen on the sort of cosy father/son relationship he seemed to have with Lendl.  After all the player is the employer and his/her coach their employee, so obviously while it's essential that they get on and have respect for each other, I think it's important there should still be a little distance between them.

The Lendl/Andy pairing was so unique and so successful that to replace like for like was never going to be an option IMO.  I'm sure Andy has made a conscious decision to go for someone as different as possible so that comparisons become irrelevant.  He's also at quite a different place in his career to where he was when he appointed Lendl and it would appear that he believes that he now has different needs.  Good luck to both of them - I wish them a long and successful partnership.

Well, my wee class are well impressed at Andy being a trail blazer. Of course, they have me teaching them tennis (they love it, it is so nice to see how much fun they are having, tokd them the Murrays would all be very proud) so of course they see a women coach as a good thing!

Ditto!  Also I'm very glad that your class are having fun playing tennis given that so many youngsters seem to be allergic to exercise of any kind these days.
