Have you seen this butterfly draw by Andy for Dorset Wildlife ? ( 2007)  It's beautiful ...

I remember seeing it at the time although can't remember where, but never doubted its authenticity.  Simple design really, yet very effective.

Have to say my heart sank when I heard what Andy had bought.  Apart from not exactly being your typical Ferarri owner, young, newly qualified drivers and powerful cars just don't go together, hence I understand that the insurance premium was nearly as much as the cost of the car!  Goodness knows what he wants with a lot of cars anyway as he's never in the UK that much, but at least he's not throwing his money away on living the high life like some sporting personalities do.

Nice article from Judy.
Thanks, Philip.  Certainly no bias in favour of her son.

Interesting she says - "A ‘net-cord’ passing shot gave the world No1 a set point at 7-6 when Andy was in a good position at the net and he finished it off with one of his blistering forehand winners. It would have made the world of difference to the momentum of the match had it been one-set all."

Compare that with Boris Becker's comment that, had Andy won the second set to make it one set all, he reckoned he'd have had a very good chance of going on to win the match.

An article almost 5 years ago to show how far Andy has progressed. Then he was a rising hopeful.  Now he is one of the top 4 favourites !

^ Brilliant find, Philip.

I remember vividly his 2005 match against Johansson, the first time I'd seen this skinny, tousle-haired laddie in action - and what action it was!  I had a strong feeling then that we were possibly looking at somebody very special and not just a nine-day wonder.

Also it's answered the question that's always puzzled me.  I'd no doubt that he'd hurt his ankle in that match but wondered why he's worn a support ever since because it didn't seem that bad an injury.  Now I know it's because he'd already twisted it before when he was younger.

Good find Daisy.  I admire Andy for his dedication to his fitness.   He deserves the top 4 ranking in the world Very Happy.

Funny we rarely hear similar good news on Andy adding more power/consistency to his FH, increasing his first serve percentage, extra power to the second serve, practising his transitional play to move from the baseline to the net to kill off points with volley etc...

Reading your second para made me think about players in general divulging specifics within their coaching sessions, and I'm not sure that they do, being unwilling to "show their hand" ......  Once a player (Nadal comes to mind) wins a Slam and the media start talking about the improvements he has made .... in this instance, I have heard Nadal confirm what he worked on, but only after the fact ....

"  I'm having a Gin martini. I have no idea whether or not Gin should actually be capitalized, but it looks right to me this way. I want to have sex with Andy Murray and not only because he's winning-- really, I don't get the hots for the winners as much as for, well, certain men, as evident by my love for Nalbandian and Ginepri and even, I don't know, Gabashvili--but Murray has grown up. He is losing his boyishness. Also, he has that English/Scottish/Whatever thing of having a sort of thin face, curly brown hair, sort of Asberger'sy personality-- in other words, he reminds me of Rick Rock and some other hot men I'm hot for. And I- I LOVE MEN.

Although, I loved boys when I was a girl. So, um, whatever.I just talked about tennis WAAAY more than I usually do. And the wierd thing is, I got all inspired to blog because I was watching the ESPN little "deep mini-show showcasing one player, with very silly romantic language and slow mo action and awesomely handsome shots" about Murray, and I got, I must admit, very aroused. But to be honest, I get aroused sometimes when I open up my Yahoo browser, in anticipation of this one really hot guy chatting with me. Sigh. That was a joke? What else? I just got really embarrassed and distracted by that last proper sentence- where I confessed.

Oh! I know! I actually want Murray to win, and I wanted him to win before I got all aroused by him, because it would be really cool for a "Brit" to win for the first time in soooooo long. Even if he is a Scot. Also, his brother Jamie is smoking HOT. And flirty- have you seen him play mixed doubles? LOVE him. ALSO-- Andy Murray- years ago, but I'm old as shit, so it seems like yesterday--won my fave local Challenger, the Binghamton Challenger!! I think that is cool. Although I must mention that he was horrible, cursing out the local ball kids, and even had to apologize when he accepted his championship check and so forth. I guess, at least he apologized. I'm confused. It's like- if we were on earth and life was normal, I'd still sort of hate Murray and find him "eh", but instead, we're on MARS and the whole world is wierd and strange and Mars-like, and I have the hots for a somewhat medium-attractive man who is known to yell at ball kids, instead of the Spanish Stallion, Nadal, so well mannered and really God given sexually attractive, and the planet I live on is Red, and like, really hot, and further from the the Sun, and so - everything is really strange and wrong and upside down and yet, still beautiful, because we are alive! "

Yours Truly,
Paula

lol Who could forget the Jamie/Jelena mixed doubles at Wimbledon?  Their on-court flirting was so hot I'm surprised they actually managed to remember they were playing tennis.  However, Andy has definitely improved with age - like a good wine.  Little tongue man

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/tennis/article-1299296/Wanted-man-Andy-Murrays-secret-overtures-lure-Australian-coach-Darren-Cahill.html

Andy Murray made overtures to highly respected Australian coach Darren Cahill before he fired Miles Maclagan.

Cahill, who shared success with Andre Agassi, having earlier directed Lleyton Hewitt’s rise to the top of the game, is believed to have been discreetly sounded out through
intermediaries before Maclagan’s fate was formally sealed at a training camp in Miami last week.

Murray, in co-ordination with his mother Judy, still his most trusted adviser, placed Cahill at the head of his wish-list to coach him when they decided Maclagan’s days were numbered after Wimbledon, as exclusively revealed in The Mail on Sunday four weeks ago

Cahill will know Murray is a man only overshadowed in the marketplace by Federer and Rafael Nadal, a position reflected by the lucrative bait offered to the British No 1, believed to be about £250,000, to be a last-minute replacement for Novak Djokovic as top seed in Los Angeles last week.

^^ Very interesting.  Wheels within wheels ... Hope you don't mind, Philip, but I've posted this link on the Andy sacks Maclagan thread.  Also hope Andy justifies the £250,000 appearance money.  Whistle

Sorry Aileen.  I just realized this when I went to brush my teeth.
