Thanks wb.  Yes it's appeared in some other newspapers as well.  At least he's almost assured of good competition with Raonic, Tsonga, Berdych and possibly Nadal all playing.  He sounds quite up for it as well, which is encouraging.

That's quite a line up Aileen.  Let's hope it gives him the boost he needs.

Whether you agree with this or not, at least it puts a different slant on the current situation -

Thank you Aileen ... very interesting take on the pressure . I'm sure Andy will be very focused on Wimbledon .

It makes sense to me too.  You could argue that Andy has managed to cope with the same sort of pressures in the past without any apparent ill-effects, but then he hadn't been struggling with illness and injury problems, and nor was he #1, which, despite what he says, must bring pressures of its own.

Brilliant article and so typical of Andy to be always thinking of others -

Not an Andy article, but a good read criticising Wimbledon's scheduling bias.

“It’s Andy. I mean, you expect it, don’t you?” he said on Sunday.

Oh, Ivan. How true, and how wonderfully understated, this is. lmao

To be honest this is something I wasn't aware of because it seemed to me that just about every time I turned the TV on it was a ladies' match.  I still maintain as well that women in Slams should play best of four sets with a CTB if the score is 2-2, because they're more than capable of it these days.

lol  Apart from that it's an enjoyable article anyway.

I often wonder what is the difference between a Grand Slam match and the ladies masters type match, I mean they are both best of three sets?

Centre Court and Court 1 only ever have 1 women's match on - except on the women's QF and SF days. Today's schedule is pretty crappy in my opinion. Kerber vs Muguruza is a way more interesting match than Djokovic vs Mannarino, or Nadal vs Muller, yet it has been exiled to Court 2 at 11.30am.

I'm pretty bored of the 'women only play Bo3' argument now. Nobody has ever offered any convincing reason why the men should play Bo5.

Before anyone says it is more exciting: I've seen five fantastic, exciting, nail biting, Bo3 women's matches in the last twelve months. I've seen two equivalents in the men's Bo5 format.

Also, because men play Bo3 on the tour many are not up to Bo5 when it gets to the slams. That's a pretty significant factor in why there have been so many retirements in the men's draw compared to the women's draw. Happened several times at the USO as well.

You can add last nights Rafa v Muller match as a great BO5 tally.
