The press are either saying Andy has a chance of winning Wimbledon (according to John McEnroe) or he is about to retire.  I suppose time will tell.  I’d love the first option, but it is a big ask.

The Daily Express sends out a tennis newsletter.  That’s how I read the article about Lendl.   It’s free to go on the mailing list, which means there’s a ton of adverts.

Thanks for sharing Aileen. I remember it was Sue Barker that did the documentary about Andy.  She will be missed.  I cannot think who the BBC will choose to replace her.

Neither can I because to me she's simply irreplaceable.

Andy Murray to team up with Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer at Laver Cup

ANDY MURRAY will feature alongside Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal after committing to play the Laver Cup in London later this year.

Three-time grand slam champion Murray will represent Team Europe as they take on Team World at the O2 Arena in September [23rd - 25th].

The competition, similar to the old Davis Cup style, sees the six players from either side go head-to-head over the course of singles and doubles matches.

Murray said: "I'm looking forward to playing the Laver Cup in London.

"I love playing as part of a team and there is a great atmosphere and intensity to the event. I've heard lots of good things and I'm excited to be teaming up with both Roger and Rafa for Team Europe."

Andy has a wildcard for Newport, Rhode Island, the final grass court tournament of the season next week.

I have just had a quick look at the atp website with the list of previous Newport champions. Anderson, Isner (more than once), Karlovic and others. Sounds unattractive to me. But it is good that Andy will have the chance to play on grass one more time this season. He had prepared so intensively for it, had a strong run to the final in Stuttgart, could not finish the match properly due to the injury, which also disallowed him to appear at Queeens. And then this awful match against Isner… Let‘s hope he will not run into him so soon again.

Yes, hopefully he won't meet Isner so soon  again.  It appears to be one of Isner's favourite tournaments.

I'm glad Andy's playing In Newport next week because if he has any hope of being unseeded at the USO (which is what he's aiming for) then he needs to play as many tournaments as he can before then.

Andy's beloved dog Maggie May has had to be put to sleep.

^  So sorry to hear about Maggie May, she was a lovely dog, the family loved her so much. I'm sorry for Andy and the whole family, I know how sad it is to lose a dog, you think you'll never get over the loss.  But you do feel better over time, and there'll be many happy memories and lots of pictures, and you'll remember that dog, and all your future dogs for the rest of your life.  Be happy that Maggie May shared your lives for such a long time.
