"Andy Murray feeling 'positive' about next season"

Andy says he's already started working on improving his fitness for the season ahead,

^ Let us hope that he understands how when getting older he needs a different approach to training and does not do the bulk training he did when in his twenties!  In all sport you must make those adjustments. Currently he appears to be able to do most that he wants to on the court albeit it all comes together less frequently than he wishes so he now needs to improve his mental preparation so that he wins more. That's how life is. We must respect our bodies. I found that article quite disturbing in that he appears to think that two months of extreme physical work will solve everything. The cramps need dealing with but they are not solved by building up the body in the Gym. A lot of his losses at the end of this season, the unexpected ones, imo, were not because of physical but more the mental lack of preparation. He is good at his tactical approach most of the time. Some of those losses however were unbelievable to us but the antidote is not with a physical improvement.

I may be out of step here with what Andy has said. The cramps are a concern to me but most times they came when he was already losing. Perhaps there is an answer there somewhere? I have always said that winning, or success at one's own current level, is the best preparation for your involvement in sport. 90% of that is probably mental.

PS That he is positive for next year is really good. He needs that attitude more than anything. A few wins early in the year are needed to build on that.

Just read in Daily Express that Andy will play doubles with Jamie next year.

^ I think it's only in the Battle of the Brits on 21 and 22 December although it would be great if they did link up next year!

Thanks for the clarification Aileen.  I remember reading ages ago that they planned to be doubles partners later on in their careers.  Maybe too soon for that.

I see that Tennis world is leading with Andy starting 2023 in Adelaide and reports his words regarding his later schedule.

Sounds like he plans a full season aiming to be more sucessful than 2022.

I think this a good positive approach.

^ So much for his spending more time at home with his family because that was more important to him than tennis!

Anyway here's a link to the article -

^  He is competitive by nature so he just cannot control the draw back to more matches!

^ Well I'm not complaining!  Also I understand that this has his wife's approval, so if she's happy, fair enough.  I'd like to think too that when the grass court season comes along his children will watch some of his matches.

It'll be great if he really will play in Adelaide even though he did say he was intending to have more time at home during 2023.
