Even more bizarre that people are celebrating it, awful news.

Surprising considering that Andy is having a Miami winter training block.

Why? I reckon Andy doesn't need Lendl any more, and he was ruining his natural game anyway. He's got a perfectly good coach in Delgado. What good did Lendl do him earlier this season? The fact that in the run up to RG he said he didn't even know how badly Andy had been playing surely speaks for itself. I don't know why you think this is a bizarre time to split either, because it seems perfect to me, given that Lendl seems to have effectively disappeared into the sunset just as he did after Andy had his back op. Not only that but he didn't even look all that interested when Andy decided to try to go for the USO.

He can have one without Lendl surely, particularly as Lendl would only start pushing him again, and that he doesn't need right now.

Actually I think this warrants a thread of it's own, so I'll open one.

Not sure that anyone is celebrating it as you say, but many of us are not at all surprised - a definite sense of de ja vu, and perhaps 'yeah, whatever, he was barely around anyway' - and some people feel that it might not be a total coincidence that Andy's long term physical issues became chronic injuries when Lendl was head coach, overseeing training which was repeatedly described as physically 'gruelling', 'brutal', and words to that effect.

Actually I think quite a number of the responses could be described as celebration and rightly so. As the article you posted by Paul Newman on the news thread argued, he's not the coach for now. Who knows whether it was genuinely a mutual decision but even if once again it's a case of Lendl abandoning Andy I think Andy is much better equipped to deal with it this time round. Kev Mitchell has implied that Lendl's demand for a pay rise might have had something to do with it. I'm hoping that Andy himself had come to the conclusion that Lendl's 'brutal' approach is not what he needs right now (just as he didn't need it this time last year at the end of such a punishing season).

For those who enjoyed Matt Little's article on strength and conditioning in tennis, he's on Kris Soutar's podcast this week. Soutar works on the Tennis on the Road project with Judy Murray, amongst other tennis things he does.

Unfortunately I didn't know about this until now, and according to tweets it was very interesting, so is there any way of getting to listen to it again?

Thank you. Yes I've got it now and bookmarked it. I wasn't too sure what podcasts were anyway so had to look them up. Also I'll have to download it before I can listen to it, but that shouldn't be a problem.

I have no idea what a podcast is. Sadly, on this occasion I've decided to not listen to it/read it/ or download it - I don't know how to do anything - you know - atl !
oh well .........

I knew Andy was interested in this, but not just how far that interest went, so many thanks for posting that article.
