I watched it too on LTA Facebook. I think he plays Cam Norrie on Tuesday. He showed far more confidence in his own ability and wanted to win without hardly any signs of self criticism. Some of the shots (those that really frustrated Dan) were a taste of Andy of old. I note also a second serve ace! Should we be posting about these matches elsewhere?
This thread will be fine MA. In a perfect world a Battle of the Brits thread should have been opened just as it was back in June, but this sort of came a bit out of the blue, so it wasn't. Thanks for your report too because I missed the match.
PS - Highlights of the match have been posted on The Other Players thread.

^ Thanks Aileen. Today have watched McHugh but on the LTA site direct. I was surprised that he won after losing yesterday especially as his opponent is higher rated. As an Andy supported player I like to see how he is progressing.

You all are lucky that you are getting to see Andy play. Their showing nothing of it in the States. Tennis Channel has the AO 2020 and some others but no Andy.
Wishing all a Merry Christmas!!

I didn't see the match but Andy defeated Cam Norrie 6-4, 7-6(7-5), despite Cam having SP at 6-5 in the second set.

Not exactly news, but a timely reminder that we were lucky to see Andy (and Jamie) at all -

Lucky him too, otherwise he'd have missed out on being been a high level sportsman!

Andy had to settle for third place in the Battle of the Brits although I've no idea why as he won both his matches in straight sets, yet Matusevich only won his match against Jack Draper 10-8 in the 10 point tiebreaker!
"Heather Watson and teenager Anton Matusevich claimed the women’s and men’s titles respectively at the Battle of the Brits Premier League of Tennis event in Roehampton."

I wondered about that too. What more can someone do than win both matches?

I know Andy played two matches but I don't know about the others because I never watched any of it - although if everyone else played three, then why didn't Andy do the same?

This news has just been announced by the ATP
"Andy has decided to take the Delray Beach wild card and make a debut at this event, hoping for a strong run ahead of the Melbourne trip if he receives the Australian Open wild card."
https://tennisuptodate.com/atp/andy-murray-kicks-off-2021-season-in-delray-beach
Other Brits taking part are Dan Evans and Cam Norrie.
The tournament usually takes place in February, but the organisers grabbed the opportunity to hold it in the second week of January after events in Oz and NZ were cancelled. Also it will be held with spectators present - 2,000 per day. More details here -

Good news thanks Aileen. So hope he gets a wild card for the AO Open though.

I do too because he's so keen to play there. I think he's better playing at Delray Beach though rather than going straight to Oz and playing in the shortened version of the ATP Cup, because having looked at the player field he's got a good chance of doing well here, and the more matches he can get the better.
Hopefully Amazon Prime will show this tournament as well as the Antalya Open in Turkey.

Somehow this BBC item got overlooked at the time (I only found it by chance on Facebook), but it's well worth a read -
"Andy Murray column: Athletes speaking out is an important step for change"
17 December 2020
Andy was speaking to BBC Sport's Jonathan Jurejko

Fingers crossed the matches will be shown on Amazon Prime, as the BBC never really show any tennis.
