Olympics QF: A Murray/D Evans vs T Fritz/T Paul

Quote

The American duo, and No. 3 seeds, defeated Canada's M Raonic/F Auger-Aliassime in R1 in straight sets, the 1st set tiebreak going to 16-14,  then today the Dutch team of R Hasse/J Rojer also in straights, although thanks to poor scheduling, Fritz had to play singles and mixed doubles as well.   Their singles ranking is No. 12 and 13 respectively.

Match is scheduled for today, 4th on Suzanne Lenglen, following a ladies' doubles and two men's singles, the second being Ruud vs Auger-Aliassime.  Rough estimate 6:00 pm BST

If they win this match they would be in line for winning at least bronze.

Tommy Paul also plays Alcaraz today in the Singles, so hopefully the Americans will be tired out by the time they play our boys, fingers crossed!!!

I felt quite flat after Wimbledon knowing Andy wouldn’t be back next year. No matter what happens today, I’m glad we have had the last two matches with Dan Evan’s to look back on.  I’ve loved all hiding behind the sofa moments (I think !) and for seeing pure joy in Andy and Dan’s performances.  Good luck today Andy and Dan. yay

Completely agree wb.

Also some of the media are a making a big thing about Andy not getting a decent farewell in Paris, mainly because the Olympics don't do on-court celebrations and speeches - Germany's Angelique Kerber, 3 x Slam winner and former Olympic silver medallist, had to be content with a wave to the crowd after she retired following her singes defeat.  Andy though doesn't want this anyway.  His career effectively ended at Wimbledon, the most fitting place for it to do so, and anything achieved in Paris is just icing on the cake.

Canada vs Norway just gone to a third.  The way those two are slogging it out we probably won't see Andy/Dan before 7 pm.
