Never have I believed that Andy could get to No1 this year after the huge gap to Djokovic. The ATP  has released a congratulation video with Andy in such a joyful pose that it nearly brought me to tears. Nobody deserves this ranking more after years of being on the very top, after back surgery, after coming second best in so many finals. Once Andy said that players would peak at different times. Now is his time. I am super proud.
Btw, I believe it would have caused Andy some nerves to play for the No1 today. Maybe he finds it easier to play a final without this additional pressure.

A shame for it to happen this way, I would have loved to have seen him beat Raonic and fall to the floor to celebrate the moment. That said, it makes winning another Masters title (and the first in Paris!) more likely given a day's rest!

If Andy gets to wtf semis and beats Djoker he keeps the crown. There are other permutations, but in most, whoever wins is number one. Which makes it worth watching for the first time in years.
