When has anyone seen Andy let the crowd get to him?? Something is going on in his mind, I hope he gets whatever it is fixed and gets back to the tennis player he can be if that’s what he wants.

No I haven't. In fact negative crowds usually fire him up.

The Bercy crowd are particularly bad. But that loss was inexplicable and you can't blame the crowd for that

I came across this article the other day and wonder if this might go some way to explaining this loss and Andy's attitude, because it looked to me as though something was preying on his mind - and it wasn't just the crowd. In short, is he perhaps having marital problems?

I think it's probably time he focused on being a dad. Nothing is more important than that. He's had a good run.

I agree nestingus, and in fact have thought that for a while now.

I watched the match and Murray was exhausted near the end, he's tired out and the off-season can't come soon enough. He showed fatigue in other tournaments he's played in Gijon and in Basel.
The positives are that Murray finishes in his highest position since 2017, he made 2 ATP tour finals this season, 3rd round of a slam, briefly played well on Clay at Madrid.
The negatives are his stamina, conditioning and allowing mental lapses to take root.
Case and point is what he's accomplishing with his limitations is an inspiration at the same time expectations shouldn't be high but I know they're high for Murray, he wanted to be seeded for the Australian Open next year, that was his target post the US Open.
I'm just happy he's still playing, all those years after when I came back from school and watched this scruffy kid take on Thomas Johansson at Queen's in 2005 and I instantly became a fan.

I read the Andy started having cramps again in the middle of the 2nd set, I can't understand how no-one has discovered what is the cause. I too am just happy to be able to see him walk on court and play, but how long can he stand being knocked out at the 2nd round when he should have clearly won.

Disappointing result. Even more so now as the other three Brits all have won through R1.
I always think that I know why Andy loses but probably I am wrong. To me he seems to enjoy his tennis so much that he rarely plays the killer point winning shot in an aggressive mode. There are lots of miraculous winners by him this year from defensive positions but again last night it became a rather bland long rally contest where he was waiting for points from errors by Giles. I understand that his practice partners say that out of competition he hits the ball harder and more aggressively. I wonder if all he succeeded in doing against Simon was to allow his opponent back into the match by playing the way he did. He needs to play more winners.

Simon defeated Taylor Fritz 7-5, 5-7, 6-4 in what was a very entertaining match to watch, then somewhat predictably lost 1-6, 3-6 to Felix A-A.
