Primrose Challenger, R1: Andy Murray vs Kyrian Jacquet (Q)

Quote

A small chance to break at the very beginning. Meanwhile Andy‘s opponent has dialled in plays some solid tennis. No pushover.
Which is a bit surprising because since he turned pro in 2019 he's played in very few tournaments..

Phew! Hung on to his early serve break. It's all about the first serve!

Oh my. And Jacquet retires. Looked as if he was telling Andy it was his thigh/groin or something. Hope not bad. But Andy moves on! And I have to say, he does not look as if he's moving gingerly when he has to run.

I missed he break too.  Andy was 15-40 when I had to leave the screen, so very pleased that he managed to hold.

And suddenly it was over.
I would have liked to see the moments after the match: the crowd was singing for Andy, he said/did something. But they kept showing us the stats. Grrr!

I agree his movement looked very confident.  Shame Challenger TV pulled the plug on the stream so quickly because I'd like to have seen what happened after the match.  Hope he got a birthday cake like he did last year.

Anyway he plays Gregoire Barrere at 7 pm BST tomorrow.

Sad about the coverage but Andy was improving game by game so that was encouraging. Do I understand that he plays again tomorrow?  Oops I missed a post that answered that. Roll on tomorrow night.

Yes they could have taken the stats down and let us see them singing to Andy. Well 3 aces and 0 double faults. And winning first serve 88%. The court seemed a little dark, had to watch closely to see the ball.  Well Happy Birthday Andy boy!!

They were - but unfortunately we can't see Andy's reaction!
