Primrose Challenger, R1: Andy Murray vs Kyrian Jacquet (Q)

Quote

French qualifier Kyrian Jacquet turned 23 on 11th May.  Currently at a career high ranking of No. 192, he has won one Challenger tournament, and reached the finals of another, both last year.  This year he failed to qualify for the Australian Open, then reached R2 of the Quimper Challenger at the end of January, but retired during the second set with his opponent leading 4-1, Jacquet having taken the first 6-1.  He has played no tournaments since then, but came through qualifying here by defeating both opponents in straight sets.

The match is scheduled last on court today, not before 7:00 pm BST.

It'll be Andy's 37th birthday, so hopefully he'll give himself a good birthday present!

The match can be watched free on https://www.atptour.com/en/atp-challenger-tour/challenger-tv   Replays are available for up to 24 hours.

I join everyone here in wishing Andy a Happy Birthday.

Looking at the increasing number of players now in the process of retirement from the top level of the sport I was musing whether he should adapt his plans once more!  Have fun today in Bordeaux. Last time I think he had a birthday cake ceremony?

He did.

On my app he is scheduled for 10 pm. They are apparently behind and a lot of other matches still have to be played. So his birthday will nearly be over by the time he may step on court. If he does so today.

Some matches were held over because of rain.

Tournie website keeps updating the time.  First it was 8:25 pm BST, now it's 8:55.

Didn't watch the match but I was very pleased to see that because he's slipped way down in the rankings.

A small chance to break at the very beginning. Meanwhile Andy‘s opponent has dialled in plays some solid tennis. No pushover.

Not looking too bad. Some nice drop shots. Think that as usual it would help if he could up his first serve percentage.
