Queens F: Andy Murray vs Milos Raonic

Quote

Murray, who is seeking a record 5th title here now takes on 25 year old Canadian and word #9 Milos Raonic.  Raonic, who has reached the final at Queens for the first time, will be equally keen to add to his tally of 8 ATP Tour titles.  Their H2H is 6-4 Murray, with Murray winning their last four matches, the last two being in the QF of the Monte Carlo Masters and the SF of the Australian Open this year.  This though will be their first meeting on grass.

The time of the final is scheduled for 2:15pm BST, and the weather is predicted to be warm and dry.

Thanks for kicking this off Aileen. Raonic seems to be on a roll at the moment, not dropping a single service game in the entire tournament so far, whereas Andy has had patchy performance at times.  On balance things ought to favour Andy however, but there are a number of unknown factors in the mix - first meeting on grass, pressure of potential record breaking run, the Johnny Mac coaching  influence, for example.

Hmm, I've not seen Milos play this week though Kyrios took the first set of his match in a tie break - he's someone that plays hot and cold between points, never mind games and sets!

NB The H2H ↓ doesn't count the walkover's. Very Happy

I have gone for Andy in three. Not sure why. I just hope that it is a good match for the spectators as usually I find Milos extremely boring. However with Andy as his opponent we surely can expect some interesting plays?

Thanks Bev. Love the H2H pics with Lendl and BigMac. I think this will be tight so voted for Andy to win in three. Someone voted for Raonic to win in 3 (who could be right) !

Can't say I'm looking forward to the match as don't enjoy watching Raonic.  But if Andy can maintain his good first serve and use his wonderful tennis brain he can of course do it.  But I think he's still adapting to the grass and Raonic will have had longer, not having done so well at RG.    Don't care a toss about the battle of the super-coaches but would hate to see Mac smirking on the side if Raonic were to win. So go Andy go and make it no 5  cmon yeah cmon yeah cmon yeah cmon yeah cmon yeah

I agree Ruthie I normally avoid watching Raonic.I find his game utterly boring. Andy must beat him. one thing in Andys favour is his great return of service lets hope that will be in Andys favour today. Also Raonis is charging into net at every opportunity not always a good idea where these top players are concerned.Raonic is also becoming rather aggorant and self assured since Mac has come on board.I do not like this with young players. Andy must win but it will not be easy.Andy is extremly quick around the court cannot always say that about Raonic.

I have always had the feeling that Raonic is arrogant and have noticed a Federer type smirk when he wins a point.

Never watch a match with Raonic except when he has played Andy, Just don't like the guy. He reminds me of Lurch and his tennis is so boring, just hope Andy serves well as needs some easy points, as Raonic will be boom booming his way through the match.

Hope Andy can destroy another servebot today. Still hate his comments before they played at USO '12 that the match was "on his racquet". Andy made him look like an idiot that night.

I'll be stayng away from this thread today then, if the first few posts are anything to go by.  I happen to like Raonic and think he's anything but arrogant.

I don't think he's arrogant either - but his tennis is not very exciting to watch.
