Fantastic achievement. Thoroughly deserved. So many tough times he must have felt like throwing the towel... but kept getting up and trying again. Thats a true champion. Along with Djoko , Nadal and Fed... they raised the bar for tennis to a different level.

Absolutely brilliant, overjoyed him. Amazing achievement in the Djokovic era and one I didn't ever expect. No doubt there will be the usual crowd saying it somehow doesn't count because he hasn't beaten Djokovic for a while and won by default today but it's well deserved for the year he's had. Difficult to argue he hasn't been the best player in the 2nd half of this year. He's deserved this year after so much heartbreak in big matches.

And after 688 pages of the rankings thread, Andy ascended to World Number 1.  It's suddenly hit me in the tear ducts. For me he has always been the most entertaining, the most nerve shaking, the most never give up, the most improbable gets, the most what the hell was that. The man with the most emotion, most integrity, most innovation, most variety. But to become, objectively, the greatest player on the men's tour at this moment. Amazing. Just wonderful.
