what a year it has been.  Now I want to know who were the 8 with so much faith that they voted that Andy would be #1 at end of the year?     The eight of you deserve medals assuming that is you voted before it became a distinct possibility  Whistle

I have finally calmed down enough to post. Andy keeps on finding new things to leave me speechless. That performance tonight considering what has gone on these past 6 weeks and the stinker of a draw he got this week was nothing short of a miracle.  I hope this puts to bed the doubters and the Murray haters once and for all. He is a God amongst men and surely a stick on for a third sports personality of the year award and when he retires a Knighthood. A statue at Wimbledon and one in Dunblane wouldn't go amiss either. Many congratulations Andy. You deserve it and we are all very proud of you.

Britains best tennis player ever and he isn't finished yet. Grew up watching Borg, Connors and McEnroe never thinking I'd ever see a British champion. Tim came close and should have won in 2001 and I was gutted when that rain came against Goran but then Andy came along and boy was he worth the wait. He is ticking off the titles and accolades and is only Indian Wells, Monte Carlo, Australia and Roland Garros away from the full set which would be the icing on the cake.

Let us not forget he's done this whilst also winning the Olympics and making the Davis Cup semi finals, which no longer offer ranking points.

If they still did, he'd have over 13,500 points.

I was one of the 8, and I carefully explained my reasons on the WTF Andy vs. Novak thread before the match.  Smile

I was, and I remember at the start of the season I think I was the only to pick number 1. It was mainly out of hope.

Might be bit small...

Andy blue, Djoker orange, Smugfed red, Rafa green, Stan pink, Ferrer brown.  Can't be bothered putting Raonic on yet.

Andy dropped off the graph after is back op...but look at Andy' rise and Djoker's fall since June this year

Only regret about Murrays rise to number 1 is that the great Dan Maskell didn't live to see it. He would have loved this and how many "oh I says" would he have used to describe Murray.
