can someone change the poll to what will Andy's ranking be at end of 2017?

as for choice of tournament is the field that much stronger than Brisbane apart from the joker?   Perhaps once he'd decided to play AD at New Year (partly in response to a plea from a local tennis playing fan), it chose itself?  But I agree with Elly I don't think money motivates him and I think I heard that the surface and balls are v similar to AO (though of course that may be true of Brisbane too)>

I think you're right about the relative strength of the fields, they're very comparable—Doha has Andy, Djokovic, Berdych, Tsonga, Goffin, Karlovic; Brisbane has Rafa, Raonic, Stan, Nishikori, Dimitrov, Thiem.

I don't care what Andy's ranking will be at the year end. He is now a world number one, a year end number one, job done. Now lets just win a few more grad slams.

No, he has to stretch it a bit to get clear of the lowlier specimens of the breed!

thanks Joe.   Of course not the end of the world if he's no longer no 1 at end of the year - but wouldn't it be marvellous if he added that to his list of achievements.   yay

Don't get me wrong I won't be complaining if Andy is still no.1 at the end of 2017. If he is then he should have picked up a few slams on the way.

I think Andy is now 780 points ahead of Joker after Doha.

At the AO Joker is defending 2000 points and Andy 1200.

So  Andy just needs to reach the semi-finals to definetly retain number 1. And that assumes Joker wins the AO. If Joker wins and Andy loses at the QFs then Joker is number 1.

World no.2 is my answer. I think Djokovic is the better player

At the end of 2017 I reckon Djokovic will end as World no.1. Murray is coming to the end of his career and he should be lookin to wind down now

lol  I don't think either of them have the intention of winding down their careers any time soon, unless circumstances decree otherwise.
