Murray's Ranking

Quote

If Andy wins Brisbane and the Australian Open, as long as Federer does no better than the Semi Finals at the Australian Open Andy will overtake him again. Its also worth remembering that Roger has 250 points to defend from Doha in the first week of the season whereas Andy is playing Brisbane and has 0 to defend, so there is a potential 500 point swing in the first week alone.
Andy can't add to his ranking points total by winning Brisbane as he's already won 2 250 events in the past year.

Can Fed lose 250 (or at least some if he doesn't win again) or does it have to wait until it's known whether he wins any other 250 event in 2012?  Sorry I still find elements of the ranking system a mystery.

Never the less a win in Brisbane will do wonders for Andy at the start of the season and be a warning to the others. It will be great for us too!!!

630 points is the difference. Andy can rise to number 3 if he wins the Australian Open and Federer does no better than the Semi Finals.

Sadly, it looks like Muzza will lose points on this tournament, but I'm presuming that he's going to hoover them up between the AO and the FO.

Although I agree with you that presently Djokovic looks stronger than Andy, it is never over until the fat lady sings.

Andy is building up steam and confidence as each match progresses as is evidenced by his latest demolition of Llodra. There is no absolute certainty that Djokovic will be there in the SF such is the vagary of sport (injury, heat exhaustion, inspirational opponent, etc..)

Is the joker peaking to soon?

I don't think so.  Djokovic looks in ominous form this year and has used up very little energy in the first 3 rounds having lost only (10) games.  He is confident, focused and has a big serve & FH. At this rate, he will be slightly the fresher of the two comes the SF but there are still 2 rounds to go yet.

Fortunately, we have Mr. Lendl quietly working on Andy's FH, serve and mental toughness over the last few days so fingers' crossed ...

^Maybe a bit too easy....Might not be sharp enough when he meets a decent player or is it wishful thinking on my part. Whistle

You never know Robbie how the cookie crumbles.  One can always live in hope. We already have one pleasant surprise in Kukushkin beating Monfils. Andy has just beaten Kukushkin two weeks ago so hopefully a straight sets win for Andy in the 4th round.

Hewitt's serve is too weak to trouble Djokovic so a likely straight sets win for Djokovic. Therefore we have to hope that either Gasquet or Ferrer can push Djokovic to 5 sets to soften him up for Andy to finish him off lol

It would also be nice if Nishikori can upset Tsonga in 5 sets and roll over in the QF for Andy to save his energy lol

You are dead right there. Joker is full of self belief and self confidence like..I am the invincible Serbian. I can see it in his eyes, the way he swaggers on court and speak to the press.

He's gonna take someone real good to give him whopping, or a  sudden demise in physical form. This is Djokovic:

So if Fed loses to Nadal and Muzzah wins the AO, AM becomes world no.3? Interesting. I think Fed will take Nadal down this time though.

Djokovic did not look very convincing against Ferrer, especially in the first 2 sets

by the third it was game over as ferrer was never going to come back from 2-0 down, if he had had a little luck during the 2nd set tie break and played third 1-1 then it might have been a 5 setter

It all boils down to who can play the better tennis on the day murray has 50% of beating djokovic...maybe more
