Thanks Mark.  That was very funny the way it is written.  I like the style as well as the hidden truths within the message.

'red' posted it up, I just quoted it, so credit to her. It's best news/blog post ever written on Andy yes

In one of the interview, Andy said that a lot of pressure will come off him if he wins the AO so if he does win tomorrow, I think we could be looking for at least another GS from Andy this year.  Now this is an exciting thought.
I've always thought that unlike Djokovic, DP and Tsonga... when Murray gets his first Slam, he'll turn into a Federer and continue winning many more... there's just something about him that makes me feel that way.

I agree Mark, I have a gut feeling that if Andy wins tomorrow, we may see a multiple slam winner emerge.

Federer won his first GS at his 17th GS tournament which is the exact stage where Andy is at so I think everything is now well set up with the good draw that Andy turned out to have had.  The only thing left is whether Andy has the self belief to go for his shots when it is appropriate for a historic win against the Maestro.

No one thought Del Potro would win the USO after Federer crushing Djokovic in the semis. I foresee something similar tomorrow.

It was bloody hilarious...thnx red!

I agree I think Andy can become a multi GS champ once he gets one but, I think Del Potro could be as well, he'll especially be threatening Rafa's RG every year as well as AO's and USO's.

I think I agree, Federer is not the gentleman everybody seems to think he is. He can afford to be pleasant and usually is but on the few occasions when when things arn't going that well, he makes underhand remarks (not direectly offensive) about his opponent and for a long time Andy was on the receiving end.  Lets hope Andy wins on Sunday and perhaps Federer will accept that he and Raffa are not the only ones entitled to win things.

I believe that Andy will win AO in 5 sets

Andy will be a multi GS champ but if he wins the AO this year he will not win Wimbledon in 2010 the pressure will be massive and Federer will be furious and pull out all the stops.

Have managed to arrange for my 9 year old daughter to go to a sleep over tonight so I can watch the final in peace tommorrow as long as it takes less than 4 hours as shes due back at 1pm on sunday hubby will hide upstairs on the computer.

i think it will come down to how well andy serves, if his first serve is cooking with gas he will win in 3 or 4. federer has had a patchy tournament IMO. the one truly excellent performer he has come up against has been davydenko who caused fed all sorts of bother before pretty much beating himself due to a lack of belief. andy knows he belongs in slam finals and will get the job done this time. i wonder if federer will actually be able to look andy in the eye (for a change)! at the net this time if andy wins. can't wait for it to get under way, C'MON ANDY!!!!!!!!! yay

Roger will really want the AO title for an additional reason I believe.

Roger will enter his 268th week as world number 1 come Monday, only 18 weeks behind Pete Sampras all time record of 286 weeks.   One way to beat this record is to maintain it until Wimbledon begins meaning that Roger needs to defend most of the 2000 points for the FO which will drop off in May.

By winning here at the AO, Roger will gain a precious 800 additional points to cement his position at the top.  Roger will know that unlike Nadal who was injured in 2009 to lose the top spot,  if Murray gets there, he could stay there for quite a while,  long enough to see Roger into retirement so this is a great chance to keep the #1 ranking going.

I personally think that Roger will lose most of the 4000 points he will be defending for the FO and Wimbledon (even getting to the final in both will still lose him 1600 points !) and once they are gone, it will become much more difficult for Roger to regain his top spot even if he stays healthy with Andy, Del Potro and Cilic biting at his heels.

Think this is a pretty good article which appeared in The Telegraph (apologies if anyone else has already posted it).

Loved this bit:

The occasion when Federer used the 'g’ word about Murray in the Middle East was not the last time that the Wimbledon champion, someone who is supposedly the debonair, unflappable ambassador of tennis, made disparaging remarks about the 22 year-old from Dunblane. That has not gone unnoticed by Murray, who believes that you should not criticise someone who has just beaten you.

'Zackly, as we Cornish say.

His former coach Brad Gilbert described Andy as "a genius" in an AO interview and reckons that after he wins his first GS he'll be up and running.

As for Wimbledon, Rod Laver said last year that no Brit will win Wimbledon until the press get off their backs ... oh yeah?  But probably not this year.

I doubt Federer is scared. He knows he has the game to beat Murray and I'd imagine he's confident he'll do it. You don't get to be the best player of all time without plenty of confidence...!

I believe Andy will win.  He has to get off to a good start show his courage and determination.  He can rattle Federer if he has a good start.  Just as Davedenko did but then went off the boil.
Federer is so condisending and arrogant I hope he gets beat he can be as he was in Doha.

COME ON ANDY YOU CAN DO IT.
