One of the comms was reminiscing that one of the years Lendl won the French he was effectively written off coming into it due to poor form. Andy will no doubt be drawing on that experience as well.
I'm sure he will, so I hope it works.  If he does get to the final it'll be either against Nadal or Thiem.

And talking about Thiem, I see Djoko's been accused of tanking in that match because "he looked like he didn't want to be there".  I know he was asked about his loss in his press conference but, although I didn't hear the whole answer, I did hear Djoko saying that he would now consider his situation and decide what to do next.  Is it possible he could be considering retiring from the Tour?  I certainly wouldn't blame if he did because he seems to be going nowhere fast, which must be very difficult to deal with after all these years at the top.

It wouldn't be the first shock retirement in sport in the last year. I think it's unlikely but not out of the question.

I think it's unlikely too. But time out might be on the agenda, who knows?

I fear Stan.

Same. Though he beat him at the same stage last year, Stan has been playing really well and can see him upsetting Andy. Andy has been playing well but Stan scares me.

He qualified his answer by saying he had responsibilities.  Presumably contractual. So perhaps not as straightforward as he might like.

I think Nole may consider a few months break but I can't see him retiring.  He said something along the lines of he was up for the challenge of working through his current issues.  He's lost his love for the sport, that desire to win that drove him through utter dominance.  I sometimes wonder if his guru is encouraging acceptance of whatever happens and he's lost his fight partly as a result of this.  He's really lost right now.

And as for Andy, well, well, well.  He's exceeded my expectations at RG, and then some.  I always end up shaking my head thinking "why the heck did I ever doubt him; he's extraordinary".  In Andy, we see a man still with a healthy drive to win.  He's so competitive I just know there is much more magic to come. Very proud, as always, to call myself a fan.

Could well have a break after the USOpen, it's the best time to do so.

From what I saw and heard at his presser, I'd say the best time to take a break would be now because he seems totally demoralised, and to carry on struggling when he isn't enjoying playing doesn't make much sense.  It's two months before the start of the North American hard court season, so perhaps that might be long enough for him to get himself sorted out.

I was not surprised to see Novak lose to Theim, Theim is playing very good tennis.  Plus Novak is just not himself on the court.  It's very hard to stay as #1, and the pressure can cause upsets with family, friends and fans.  He was #1 for a while, I'm sure he just wants to go back to enjoying life with no pressure.
I remember Sampras saying he lost hair, he lost a girlfriend and he wasn't always the nicest person towards the end of his career.
