The bookies have made Andy favourite for the Oz open making him the first ever Brit to be made favourite for a slam. Truely good times! I would imagine this is only in the UK because of the rush of money backing Andy or has his form deserved such credit/pressure??? Ethier way well done Andy and good luck mate.
I wouldn't make him favourite.
It's close between the top 4 even Nadal. I think all 4 can make the semi's and then it's game on.
For Rafa I think it's more draw dependent than the other 3. There's probably a couple of players who he could do without meeting on a hard court before the semi's. He's no mug on these courts, making it to the semi here last year and making the semi at USO.
Roger for me is still the favourite in best of 5 hard court matches. I know he's lost to Andy a few times since the USO but he really played well against Nole and Andy at the USO.
Nole seems a little under done at the moment but he may play himself into form in sydney. He cruised the title here last year. Fed was ill in the semi though but if Nole can find some form he wil be tough to beat.
Andy has been the guy to beat since Wimbledon and apart from the Olympics only the cream of tennis has beaten him. Right now, he has to make the semi's because he's been beating the 'also rans' and 'challangers' whenever he's played them.
If the top 4 do make the semi's then I dunno, all 4 could win if you ask me. I think for the draw I would prefer Andy to be in Feds half because if he does play Rafa in the Semi it's probably going to be another long one and then it would be Fed or Nole in the final.
I still have concerns that Andy will struggle to beat 2 of Rafa, Fed and Nole in 2/3 days in a slam.
I would make the favourites in this order.
Fed
Andy
Nole
Nadal
Then a big gap and maybe one of Tsonga/Del Potro
