Toronto R3: Andy Murray vs Jannik Sinner

Yeah, Madrid. I wasn't being critical. I was saying that the two times he's reached R16, he hasn't been able to get on court, which is a shame.
Yes I see what you mean now.  In fact it's almost like he's being told something.

Thanks Apollo.  He sounds and looks to miserable I just want to give him a big hug.

Cincinnati draw is out, and Andy is down as playing.  Plays the No. 11 seed Karen Khachanov in R1.   R2 doesn't look too bad, but Andrey Rublev could await in R3.

He has though withdrawn from the doubles, and so Dan will now partner Andreas Mies

You made a good point, ghostie. Still a back surgeon?

I’m hopeful Andy is smart for his swan song. It seems like he is, with his withdrawal from here. Good for him!
I went to see him here with the full realisation this would be my final time.

Im hoping for a warm up match with Khachanov (had so many high hopes for him, as a tennis geek. He’s still a very dangerous player.)

I hope Andy is still enjoying it.  He's such a competitive soul, I hope that psychological element is ok with him.

While I get that Andy has the intention of playing here, will he actually appear on court?  If things felt so uncomfortable he had to withdraw from Toronto, is he going to be fit enough to play on Tuesday, let alone Monday?  Maybe a couple of days rest will help.

Thread corrected Sunday 09.30am.
I assume that a Cincy site might be opened soon, but no pressure Aileen! I just was not really wanting to put this in the Toronto thread.

I see that you have already added here what I originally posted so I will delete most of it.
As you say he has withdrawn from the doubles. Dan Evans is playing tomorrow with Mies strangely against Andy's singles opponent, Khachenov(playing with Haase). My sources could be wrong but I am assuming and hoping that Andy is going to play on Monday if the strain is not a worry. That is on some schedules but again they could be wrong or change yet.

@MA - Apologies for the lack of Cinci thread but as it all followed directly on from Toronto I just let it run, particularly as there was a doubt about Andy's participation.  Also I do not have the sole right to open these threads so anyone else can do it if they want to, and in fact I wish they would!

You're right about Andy playing tomorrow because this tournament starts today, something I hadn't realised.

What I have found is that Andy is scheduled to practice with Mackenzie McDonald this afternoon.

As for Dan, I had noticed that, and he and Mies are playing today around 7:00 pm BST.

Couple wins in Cinci could be enough to get him seeded at USO

Thanks because I was wondering about that.

Are you sure about that because I just do not understand how you have worked that out. He is currently ranked 36 and there are 32 seeds with no firm indication of non-participants or protected entries. I think that the seeds are determined on 21st August.

Andy's now at 37 in the live rankings. I'd say that of the people above him, Struff and Shapovalov are iffy for the Open. Berrettini might be a question mark too. Squeaking into the seeding certainly not impossible.

^ Thank you Tamaragi.  I see that the seeding issue appears solved by Andy's withdrawal from Cincy. I think that it would now take at least five higher ranked players to pull out of the US Open for him to be seeded? He will need to rely on a fortunate draw for a winning run in New York which must have been his target.  That is assuming his abdomen strain recovers enough for him to play. I think that he would be hoping for that as we know that he loves the big events. Perhaps he will try to be added to a warm up event at short notice to prepare his body for the slam event? Probably not a lot available?
