Them donkeys were goats then the fence interfered?

I thought it was strange that the donkeys were happy to be fed grass over the fence but kept themselves at arm's length. Should have been a clue.

Once upon a time there was a goat who mucked about in the mountain..
Then there was the the donkey who ****** about in the fountain
There wasn't a fence anywhere to be seen!

Having watched the match cannot agree with the negative comments. He (Andy) had 20, yes only 20 unforced errors during the match.
Anderson was SUBLIME last night. Something that cannot be accounted for. His Serving was THe Best and he has suddenly discoved volleying.
Why oh why did Andy continue togo to Kevin`s forehand? And then, how to cope with the outside backhand.

Many aspects were against Andy last night
1 The court, as previously mentioned
2, His Cold
3. His efforts to overtake Federer in the rankings....playing Washington etc
4. Beating Djokovic in Montreal
\
However, I have to presume that his TEAM did not prepare hime enough for the match. Perhaps, with the HTH it was taken for granted that Andy would win. Lookindg at their last meetin Queens, why would they think otherwise?

Someone, and they were on the Anderson team, did their homework!
Andy's team, I do  believe lacked the prep that was required and the above points contributed and made it almost disastrous for Andy.
IMO he is missing Amile. Since bringing her on board he has performed above our expetations.
Bring back Amile quickly and drop Tomas.....no improvment since he has been involved.
In conclusion, my thoughts are that his team let him down with their lack of, or reluctance to give Andy the correct advice. Rest on you Laurels.....and you will fail!
Work MUST be done on the second serve. And it is so worrying that lesser players FEEL THAT THY CAN BEAT ANDY.......FEDERER AND DJOKOVIC HAVE QUITE THE OPPOSITE EFFECT ON PLAYERS

I agree that Andy misses Amelie. I not sure of the outcome of the match if she's been there but Andy would have been much more calm.
Having read good posts here and articles, Andy has lost this match because of a complete mental crash (for sure ignited by Kevin playing the match of his life). A well composed Andy would have been able to find a way through.
I'm afraid to say that but I think Andy's "comments" were directed to his team. If this is in fact Andy talking to Andy, it's even more scary. I don't even know how you can talk to yourself like that (the words and above all the attitude). Unless you're not alone in your head.
I'm sure Amelie will have a word with him. Maybe she's going to bawl him out a bit ! Smile
"Andy ! I mean REALLY ?!" I'm kidding right now, but......... in fact I wish that as his coach she does it.

You're a bit hard on Jonas. I think as a replacement coach he does his job. And Andy won in Montreal with him this is not nothing.

For the lesser players to feel that they can beat Andy and not Novak or Fed I'm not sure either.
I think they have the same thought when it comes to play Andy and the other 3.
Something like it will be very difficult, but with the right game plan if I perform it well and play very good tennis I can win this match. Lesser players are competitors too.

I agree with the second serve, and I'm sure Andy will adress it. I don't think he will suddenly have a killer second serve but just good enough to give a bit less opportunities is ok.
This will save points and his sanity ! Wink

But what could his team have possibly done to deserve that?  I hate to say it guys, but it really disappoints me to see him be that way.  I often defend him to people who say he does nothing but moan and throw his toys out of the pram when he's losing.  I tell them he doesn't do that any more, that's a thing of the past, and now I'm just shaking my head in dismay.  It makes me angry because it ultimately harms him more than it harms anyone else.  People can shrug it off by saying that's just Andy or his team know not to take it personally.  Those facts don't make it okay.   He definitely has some demons in there, not yet exorcised.   I, too, hope that Amelie comes back and knocks it out of him with some tough love.

Probably the only criticism of Andy you'll ever get from me but there it is.  I rant because I care.

I think it's self-destructive too doublebagel and, and I would only ever say this in the "safety" of MW where we are (nearly) all on Andy's side, it was virtually non-existent when Lendl was in charge. Frown

I do think Amelie calmed him also.  Someone on here said that when he's mentally tired his old behaviours come out.  I think that could well be true.  It's something that no coach can ever really stop happening, they can only try and safeguard against it.  Andy has to do most of the work there, and it's probably easier said than done.  We know he is working on it and he's never denied it to be a problem so I guess we just gave to hope that his continued work means we see less and less of it.  I just get annoyed because it's the biggest criticism I hear from Murray haters and those spectacular rants would only have left them with a "told you so" smirk on their petty little faces.

Both Wawrinka and Djokovic expressed their extreme anger at losing points / a set by smashing a racket. Diokovic smashed a racket when he lost the second set against Agut, hid it, then calmly said to the umpire - 'what smashed racket? I don't see any smashed racket?' ! It is a mean of releasing the strong pent up anger.  It would be interesting to know how long they keep on the internal ranting or if they let it go quickly after smashing their racket.

Fed seems the most well controlled of the lot nowaday (he has significantly improved from his youth).

It is interesting that Andy is trying to use his ranting/anger to raise his tennis level.  I also use anger myself to raise my level of performance - although not deliberately. Of course if Andy stays angry too long, he will start missing the tennis opportunities in the present moment.

Yes, Phiip it is a way of motivating yourself but.....it had virtually disappeared with Lendl and Andy won two slams without it and, as doubleb said,  better under control with Amelie, but now?

Racket smashing I have no problem with.  It always raises a smile for some reason.  The f*****g this, f*****g that, f*****g everything, with a c**k thrown in for good measure was just ugly.  I love a good swear myself but that was way over the top.  Perhaps it's because he's such a laid back gentleman off the court that I have trouble digesting the two extremes.

I don't think Andy will ever be able to fully control the rants.    They didn't disappear altogether under Lendl but he did get over his anger swiftly and it wasn't directed at his box.     With Amelie I think he was very aware of how she would be criticised if he put a foot wrong and therefore controlled himself more.     I do think he was tired at the US Open and reverted to type.    The rant from the chair at the end of the 2nd set went on too long and I don't think helped him at all.

As much as I despise the DC as a competition, I hope he (and yes, it all depends on him) wins the damn thing this year so he never has to play in it again. It has definitely taken the focus away from his own singles career. Is it a case of proving the "anyone but England" faction wrong.

I really do hope we win it. It will help his scheduling no end if he feels that he doesn't need to play in it any more.

I also think that beating Novak killed him mentally. It was such a release of emotion.

So he's on,y playing Shanghai, Paris and the O2? And DC final if we get there? Quite a few points to drop there with not defending Shenzheng and Valencia.
