Washington R3: Andy Murray vs Taylor Fritz

Quote

The  two have met once before, at last year's Canadian Open, with Fritz winning 6-1, 6-3 in a match where Fritz played almost flawless tennis and dominated from the start.

25 year old Fritz, currently ranked No. 9 (career high No. 5), has 6 ATP Tour titles, the last acquired at the Atlanta Open last week when he beat Aleksandar Vukic 7-5, 6-7 (5), 6-4 in the final.   In R 1 here he defeated fellow American and qualifier Zachary Svajda 6-3, 6-3, making it his 17th win from 20 matches on American soil this season.

Due to rain the match has been re-scheduled for today not before 7:00 pm BST

I wont be around at 2 am, and it could be later because the last I saw was that play had been suspended due to rain.  I know Fritz has been enjoying a hot streak, so cmon Andy - cool him down a bit!

Good luck Andy boy, Taylor is tough but so are you, and you are smarter. So bring your A game, stay focused, play smart and figure out Taylor, I’ll be rooting for you!!

Still raining.  If it continues, I suppose it's possible that Andy's match won't even get played tonight.

Anyway, night, night all!  zz

Yes still raining, there are 2 matches to play before Andy and it is already 9:23 pm there. I’d just soon they cancel play if it stops raining as Andy could be playing around 2:30 am.

Play has concluded for the day. Tiafoe came out and was ready to warm up and the rain started again and they had to leave the court.

According to an article I read the winners of Tiafoe and Andy’s matches tomorrow will have to play a second match on the same day.

Watched the news last night about Trump and saw the rain, so thought Andy would not play, and glad if dry didn’t have to play in silly hours. Rooting for you Andy, you can do this, aggressive play and stay focused.  cmon yeah

That is good news.  Didn’t Andy have to play until silly o’clock one year in Washington?

I suppose the only good thing about playing two matches in one day is that their opponent will be no fresher than they are.
