I can't see him choosing to retire early. Behind all of the "I'm just a wee boy from Mallorca playing a bit of tennis" persona he's an extreme competitor and he obviously lives for the sport. I don't think he'll give up unless he absolutely has to.

He has a couple more FO titles in him yet I feel, even if he fails to take any more of the other 3. I reckon he'll play until 28.

Yes but if his knees are so badly damaged what is the point of continueing to play. He has won everything and has more than enough money to live well for the rest of his life. It would be stupid to continue to play with his knees the way they are. His uncle Tony must surely see that, if not he could be crippled for the rest of his life. I think he should retire while he is still ahead whilst only 25 or not.

Nadal turned pro in 2001 and that's 10 years. He's been so successful since then that it feels too long. He must feel the same way too. He has talked about it recently a couple of times this year after all. Having said that, I just don't see him retiring any time soon. He is too much of a competitor to give it up when he has yet to deal with Nole perhaps his biggest nemesis. I am sure he won’t go away until he has at least 1 significant win over him possibly next year. Novak has a series of titles to defend and he's never known as a great defender, so that alone makes him quite vulnerable for next year. Nadal is just waiting for that moment to arrive. He’s on the prowl and once he smells the blood, he’ll be all over it. Both Federer and Nadal can smell blood like nothing else and so can Novak these days. Andy is not there yet. He’s still too innocent to be in big boys club. He will have come into his own term to be in that club. So anyway, I don’t see Nadal retiring any time soon. It’s Federer who should retire but then again, he can’t stand the talk of it. He’s waiting to win one more slam possibly beating either Nadal or Novak in the final to prove his naysayers wrong and send a message, that he was never done or dealt with. He’s on the prowl too.
